"so in conclusion," the girl sighed as she finished up telling the gang the whole synopsis of her and julies midnight trip to bobbies, "bobbie stole my song, and ended up producing it with julies mother."
after julie had dealt with her dad, getting grounded for over a month, they all met back in the garage. they figured to start with the most pressing topic, what happened at bobbies. part two.
the looks on everyone's faces showed they had a hard time processing this news. it was a lot, she had to agree.
"i can't believe my mother coproduced a song with bobbie," julie shook her head, "and even more, that it was yours." her eyes filled with tears, "that's been a favorite of mine since i was young. i used to sing it with my mom, she never said anything about it, but i always wondered why she loved it so much." she sighed, "and now, i sing it about her." she looked down at her fingers, a tear falling down on them.
julie had also played the song for the group, everyone recognizing the woman's subtle vocals behind bobbies voice.
the teen tried not to cry as bobbie sang the words she had wrote back in the worst days of her life. tears strolled down her face anyway, and she looked up to see the same on lukes face.
"luke," she whispered, "why are you crying?" she sniffled softly.
"this song." his lip trembled, "this is what i found at bobbies," he sighed and closed his eyes, "i thought he had wrote it about you." he leaned his head back on the wall, feeling like an idiot. he had jumped to conclusions, obviously, and freaked out over nothing.
he should've felt relieved, but all he felt was guilt. embarrassment. shame.
he had just wanted to keep you close, never wanting to lose you. the feeling continuously clouded his judgment, even back in the days he was alive.
"we should give you two a second," reggie mumbled, realizing what must've been going on at the moment. he rubbed his hands on his jeans and stood up, motioning for the rest of the crew to leave as well. and just the two teens remained.
"so you really wrote that?" after a few minutes, luke smiled over at his girl, who looked up at him.
she blushed, "yeah. about you." she pushed her hair behind her ears, pushing his leg with her foot, "it was after you all died. i just, missed you. my dork."
he just laughed, shaking his head, "i found it when i went to bobbies the first time. i was looking for answers on if anything happened between you two after, well," he stopped speaking, confident he had made his point. he looked downward, embarrassed at his reaction to the whole thing, "not that i would be mad if something did, i'd understand. and i thought that song proved it." he sighed, gently whispering, "i guess i was wrong."
"there was no way you could've known." she just sighed, "i'm sorry it had made you feel that way though. i never gave that song to him, he must've found it in my things after i died."
"don't apologize," luke said, turning his head toward her and waiting a second, "i'm sorry for what made you feel the type of way to write that song."
she just chuckled softly, wiping the remaining tears from her cheeks, "oh what a time it was though, yeah?" the teens made eye contact, "1995, making music and being in love." she said it dramatically, titling her head and looking up at the ceiling.
luke leaned forward, taking her hand in his, "i don't think it's ended quite yet." he whispered, leaning in to kiss her lips gently, "every good show has a brief intermission."
they kissed again, and she smiled, looking into his auburn eyes.
"that's all it was. an intermission, a blip in time." he smiled as he spoke, "and now we're back to continue our story."
she smiled widely,
"here's to part two."
