YOU FELT A SMILE creep on your lips as lukes arms wrapped around yours, his fingers playing the guitar that was sitting on your lap in front of you. he was showing you some chords to try, but you had been barely paying attention.
"hey," he whined, feeling that your attention was elsewhere, "what are you thinking about?"
"just how funny this all is." it was weeks after the chaos had settled. in the past month, you and your ghost friends had been through a lot.
first, it was finding your ghost friends after you had died yourself. two years later then them, you had an even bigger world to comb through. with humans and ghosts alike, you thought it would be impossible. until, one day, they found you.
well, luke did, actually.
then, reunited with the people you loved most, the solution only brought more problems. they had met this girl julie, started a band, and got into (ghost)life-threatening trouble with a ghost-musician-freak that had cursed them.
great. never thought ghosts could be cursed. wasnt living in limbo enough??
getting through that, by the power of teamwork, a new ghost friend named willie (who wasn't a friend to all, you all had witnessed the spark between alex and the boy), and finding the determination to play where they never got to (the orpheum), your boys were able to stay awhile longer in the ghost world. with their music. with julie.
with you.
but, doom hadn't given up on the teens yet. naturally.
yep, turns out, the boys were tied to julie all along, and you were tied to bobbie.
it made sense, really. after the boys death, you two had grown close. and, further more, you had died right next to him in a car crash. this shocking discovery led to another (this pattern tended to happen a lot in your life) ; you could talk to him. this worked out for almost everyone involved.
julie - she could learn more about her mother. the gang had quickly found out that they had met julies mother that day of the dreaded hotdogs, and chaos arose from that.
the boys - they could get answers to why trevor wilson had stolen almost every song of theirs with little credit given.
and you - you just wanted to see him again. to tell him you missed him, and to patch up old wounds (like his guilt on the matter of your death). and, he had also taken something from you too, why?you got the chance to do all those things, to get all those answers. not without a little drama, fighting, keeping too many secrets, and all of the other ingredients to a recipe for chaotic disaster, of course. but now as the dust had settled and the tension had broken between the teens, you all were able to breathe, make up, and move on in your ghost life.
whatever that meant. you felt as if you were living in the biggest oxymoron ever.
"a year ago, i was struggling to even touch piano tiles," you sighed, "amongst other things," it was always a struggle not to let your mind fall into the darkness that year alone as a ghost was for you, "and now i'm here. i found my friends, settled the absolute chaos that came with them," luke laughed against your back, "and i'm learning to play the guitar. something i never thought i would do." after you had lost the boys, music had seemed like a lost cause. something you never wanted to think of again.
"sorry, me and chaos are a package deal." luke smiled at you, but then it faded, "we never really have talked about how it was like for you."
"which it?" you both laughed, "i've had many."
it was true, first losing them and having to live on your own for two years, and then dying, and then waking up as a ghost and searching desperately for one more year. by the time the boys had found you, you had pretty much given up hope on everything.
it is often at your breaking point something comes to safe you, your mother used to tell you that, it's fate making you stronger for your next struggle.
luke picked up the guitar, resting it next to him, and spun you against the floor so you faced him, "we'll work through them, slowly. the abundant its, step by step." you both laughed, "let's start at the beginning. tell me only how much you can handle."
"ok," you huffed, closing your eyes, "the beginning."
you thought for a moment.
"the night bobbie showed up on my doorstep, soaking wet."
