24th September 1974

"But why my brother? I mean of all people-"

James started up, " Pads, mate. Do you ever stop complaining?"

"No." Nat, Remus and Peter all said in sync.

"Haha, you are all so funny. I mean, you would never get this humour anywhere else in the whole world."

This time it was Peter that spoke up, " Shut up Padfoot, she's failing, your brother ain't, end of."

Natasha smiled at him, he never really spoke up, not for himself, and not for others. He was shy, timid even, and he wore his robes loose fitted. People thought he was generally large, but they just hadn't quite seen a top that was fit onto him. That was all. He was blonde, quite short, yet also had lanky features. His eyes were green, the colour of the Slytherins badge. From what the others knew, he had no reason to be so shy, he had a loving family, he had them, he had Mary.

Soon enough, dinner was over and they had gone back up to the common room. Nat sat down for ten minutes, but she had to collect her books and parchment and make her way down to the library. On the way down, she spotted her brother, Emrys, walking down an empty corridor with another boy. she watched after them, they seemed particularly close. She knew that he was gay, yet it hadn't hit her to that moment. His smile at that moment, the way he held the other ones hand. She didn't make herself known, and just continued on walking. It was not until later, she realised it was that Hufflepuff, Ted Tonks.

When she reached the library, it was five past six.

"So, you need some help, m'lady?"

She turned around, and saw that Severus Snape was sitting there, with Lily. He snarled as she grimaced, and then revelled in the way she had a sense of uncomfortableness.

"McKinnon?" Regulus called, from a row further down, and she was grateful, in that moment, that she wouldn't have to see Snape's face. She walked off, making sure to flounce as she turned.

Show no fear, and feel no anger.

Marlene's words echoed in her head, calming her. She had learnt by now to keep a note of whatever her twin said, as she had a calm way of approaching and tackling her problems.

"You feeling okay, mate?" Nat said, seeing Regulus' face as she turned the corner.

"I was more concerned about you, you're white as a sheet. And, you're eyes-"

"What about my eyes?" She questioned, not sure whether he was really concerned or being rude.

"Nevermind," He carried on, he wasn't in the mood to argue, "We've got work to do."

An hour had passed, and they had barely made progress. Natasha was tired and still grumpy after the encounter with 'Snivelous', she made it very clear to Regulus, she did not agree with his and Lily's friendship. Regulus then made it clear it wasn't anything to do with him, and he just wanted to get on with the task at hand. And to that she replied that she would like it if he moved his face away as during that moment.

Later that night, at nine o'clock, she arrived back in the dorm, huffing and puffing as Regulus' suggested they 'wrap it up' when she'd snapped at him for explaining what a teacup is forty times over.

"God Nat, you look awful."

She sighed, "Thanks for the compliment, J"

"Sorry, sorry. Seriously though mate, you feeling okay?"

"Yeah, just tired after Black Jr. has been on my back about bloody teacups and whatnot for three bloody hours,"

Remus looked up from the book he was reading, "That's a lot of swearing."

"Once again, you would also be tired if you were nagged at for three hours. Now, goodnight."

She stormed up the stairs, and the boys were left looking confused, wondering whether to ask. Peter started to but Remus shot him a look and he shut his mouth.

"Where's our Black brother tonight?" Remus asked.

"Pretty sure he's off with Mary t'night, why'd you ask?" James replied, remembering his conversation with Sirius earlier.

"No reason, just curious." Remus murmured, trying to cover the pang he had just felt. "I should've just checked the map."
