Robert's pov
When I woke up, Andy was laid in my arms, still fast asleep. I smiled, and kissed her forehead lightly. Checking my phone, I realised that we both had to get up for shift soon, so there was no point in trying to get back to sleep.
"Good morning sleeping beauty," I whispered as Andy started to wake up.
"Mm good morning," she said, rolling over so she was laying on top of me.
We kissed, and things quickly escalated.
"Daddy? Drea? Is it time to get up now?" We heard Gabby saying from the doorway only twenty minutes later.
"Oh my god," Andy said, rolling back off of me and covering us both with the sheets. We didn't even hear the door opening, so it made us jump when Gabby spoke.
"What are you two doing?" Gabby asked, and Andy and I looked at each other with panicked eyes.
"Uhh, nothing. And yes princess, it's time to get up now. How about you go and wait downstairs and we'll be down in a minute," Andy said, and Gabby nodded, running out of the room.
"You okay?" I asked Andy, as she laid back down.
"Your four year old daughter just walked in on us Robert. Who knows what she thinks we were doing, her poor innocent mind," Andy said and we both burst out laughing.
"Okay so maybe we should be a bit more careful in the future," I commented and Andy agreed.
"We need to get ready for work, we should've gotten up like half an hour ago," she said, smirking at me.
We got dressed into our uniform, and then went downstairs, where Gabby was waiting patiently.
I made breakfast, and we ate it, before I went and got Gabby dressed for school. Meanwhile, Andy packed both of us a bag to take to work since we both have double shifts. I packed Gabby a bag too, since she was going to her friend Megan's house for a sleepover.
When we were all ready, we set off. We had decided to leave early today so that we could all walk together.
First, Andy and I dropped Gabby off at the babysitters, and thankfully she let us go without any problems. Then, we walked hand in hand to Station 19. I was walking Andy there, and then walking to Station 88, my station.
"This is the worse part about double shifts, not being able to see you for 48 hours. I'll miss you," Andy said, and I put my arm around her shoulder as we walked.
"Yeah, I agree. And I'll miss you too," I said, as she rested her head on my shoulder.
We walked the rest of the way in a comfortable silence, until we got to her station. Then, we turned to face each other.
"Stay safe, I love you," I said, pressing a kiss to Andy's forehead.
"You stay safe as well. I love you too," Andy replied, standing on her tiptoes to kiss me on the lips. I kissed her back but we were soon interrupted by her captain, and friend, Maya I think her name was.
"I hate to interrupt, but I need to steal Andy for line up," she said, and Andy glared at her.
"I'll see you at home, love you, bye," I said, kissing Andy again.
"Bye, see you at home. Love you," Andy said. We kissed one last time, before she headed into her station, turning to wave before she closed the door behind her. I waved back, and then started to walk to my station.
When I got there, I saw Luke boxing in the gym, so I got changed and went to join him. He was one of my best friends, and also my captain. We talked while we were boxing. I mostly talked about Gabby and Andy, and Luke talked about how he was still single.
About an hour and a half later, the alarms went off for a four alarm fire, so we ran to get our turnouts on, and rushed to the scene.

Andy's pov
When I walked into the station, Maya was waiting for me in the lobby.
"So you and lover boy seem happy together. So happy, in fact, that I had to come and tell you to say goodbye and come in," Maya teased me.
"Yes, we are happy," I answered.
"Oh, and I wasn't eavesdropping or anything, but I'm pretty sure I overheard you both saying you love each other," she commented.
"Oh yeah, you heard right. I told him I love him last night, and he feels the same," I said, a smile creeping across my face.
"Yes! You did it!" Vic cheered from behind me, obviously having heard what I said.
"I did," I confirmed and she held out a hand for me to high five.
We went to the beanery for breakfast, but once again I didn't have anything seeing as we had already eaten at home.
Once everyone else had eaten, Maya set us some chores to do, so we got started on those.
I was cleaning the engine, when Travis came by, telling me that there was someone in the lobby wanting to see me. I'd forgotten that Kat was coming by, but I remembered when he told me that.
"Hey Kat!" I said, as I walked into the lobby.
"Hey Andy, is now a good time?" She asked.
"Yeah, great time actually, I was just doing chores. Come on, I'll introduce you to everyone, and then give you the tour," I said.
I introduced Kat to Maya, Vic, Travis, Ben, Dean, Emmett and Jack. Once I had done that, I showed her the beanery, the barn, the gym, the lounge, the locker room, and all the other rooms in the station.
We somehow managed to go two whole hours without any calls, which was a lot longer than usual. However, when we did get a call, we already knew that it would be bad.
Aid car 19, Ladder 19, Engine 19. Four alarm fire.
"Four alarm, it's gonna be bad, so be ready," Maya shouted as we all rushed to get our turnouts on.
"I've got to go, I'm sorry. Hopefully I'll see you again soon," I said to Kat, rushing my words.
"Yes, see you soon," she replied.
Sure enough, when we got to the scene, it was bad. In fact, it was even worse than we expected. It was a huge warehouse, and pretty much the whole place was already up in flames, and there was smoke filling the air around it.
"19, good of you to join us," Dixon said, making me roll my eyes. I really hate that guy. "There are still civilians inside, Station 88 are inside, but they need backup. That's you guys."
I felt my stomach drop when I heard him say Station 88. That's Robert's station, meaning he's probably already in there.
"Come on let's hurry. You heard the chief, 88 needs back up," I shouted, and I saw Maya and Vic exchanging looks.
"Yes, Herrera's right. Remember, you must always be with someone else at all times, no going off on your own no matter the circumstances. The visibility is going to be next to nothing in there, it will be impossible to find your way out alone," Maya ordered.
"Got it Captain," I said, desperate to get in.
"Okay, partners. Gibson, you're with me. Hughes and Warren. Montgomery and Dixon, and Miller and Herrera. Off we go," She shouted, and I looked to Dean before running into the building.
Me and Dean, and Vic and Ben, all went left at the entrance, whilst the others went right.
"You guys take the ground floor, we'll go up," I said, noticing a staircase leading to a second floor of the warehouse. Everyone agreed, so we headed our separate ways, making sure to stay in partners like Maya had ordered.
Dean and I made it up to the second floor easily, thankfully the staircase was still intact.
When we got up, I noticed a pool of blood at a corner, so I pointed it out.
"Dean, over here!" I shouted. We went around the corner, and saw a women bleeding out on the floor. "We need to get her out of here, there's not enough visibility to even see her injuries. All we know is she's loosing blood, and fast," I said, loudly so he could hear me through my oxygen mask.
"You get her feet, I'll get her shoulders?" Dean suggested and I nodded.
We both did exactly that, and soon we were heading back down the stairs.
"Damn it," I muttered as I stumbled slightly.
"You good Herrera?" Dean asked.
"Yeah I'm fine, let's get her out of here," I replied, and we made our way down the rest of the stairs, and out the door.
As soon as we were out, Ben and Avery came running over, and took the patient off to treat her in the PRT. Dean and I switched our oxygen masks and tanks, since they were running low, and headed back inside.
We went back up the way we had came, but this time went further in. After a few minutes, we saw two firefighters a little bit ahead of us, so we hurried to catch up with them.
When we came up behind them, I recognised one of the firefighters instantly. I tapped him on the shoulder, and he turned around straight away.
"Andy?" Robert asked, unsure if it was me through the smoke.
"Yeah. We were thinking us four should group up, the visibility's getting even worse in here, soon we won't even be able to see our own hand if we put it in front of our face," I suggested. I saw Robert look towards his partner, who I realised now was his friend and his captain, and he nodded.
"Good idea, let's go," Robert agreed, and Dean and I followed behind him and Ripley.
This was the first time Robert and I had worked together, and surprisingly, it wasn't at all weird. In fact, I liked it. We understand each other, it's almost like we have a way of knowing what the others going to say before they even say it. That's probably why we ended up switching partners: me and Robert, Ripley and Dean.
When we reached another turning, they went one way, we went the other.
"It's good working together for once, even if the circumstances aren't great," I heard Robert say.
"Yeah it is, we work well together," I agreed.
After a while, we had cleared the whole area that we were covering. We were just about to start making our way back to the exit, when there was a huge explosion. It was big enough to knock both Robert and I off our feet and throw us backwards. Then, everything went dark.
