Chapter 14: Directions

After agreeing the dinner earlier in the morning I went back to my hotel to pack my things for tomorrow's flight. The pack in took the whole day mostly since I slept in the afternoon due to the lack of sleep these days. Once I head back to silicon valley I realize I have a lot of work to do so I thought I'd better just get as much as I can right now. There was nothing I can do in the office at this state so I made a mental note to bring the situation up to Alex and the others.

By the time I finished packing, it was already the promised dinner time so I dressed up this time and went. I'm not sure whether coffee-him was going to be there since he didn't promise to come but Yong San said he texted him the details. I doubt coffee-nim was going to come since we are celebrating a certain someone's wedding too amongst all things. Although I wasn't going to admit it I still wished he come show up.

I wanna see that cute face one last time before I go back.

I shook out of my thoughts and focused on getting ready. Once I was done, I drove to the location Yong San texted me. It probably took me 10 minutes to realize I had to reroute since I took a wrong turn. Once I arrived to the Italian restaurant we were din in in, I noted that everyone was alresdy seated and it seems as if In Jae-ssi was a bit late like me too since I saw her enter in before me.

"Anyeonghasaeyo Seo In Jae Taepyonim, glad you came", I walked up to her and greeted.

"Anyeonghasaeyo Kim Ha- Directornim", she greeted, smiling slightly while adressing me with a title. I must've blushed a little but we both ended up laughing at how awkward it was to call me 'directornim'. I can see why Yong San likes her. After our greeting, we both walked up to the table where everybody was gathered. I noted that the person I wanted to see was nwhere to be found which kind of disappointed me a little.

"Oooo we saw yoh both laughing around just now unnie, looks like you made a best friend", Dal Mi-ssi teased her sister. In Jae-ssi gave a look to her sister and the whole situation amused me.

"Well that would be nice, In Jae-ssi, since we're already business partners wanna become closer that that?", I faced In Jae-ssi and gave her a teasing wink. In Jae-ssi looked like she didnt know what to say while the rest of them hollered at my attempt to seduce In Jae-ssi into friendship. Dal Mi-ssi looked especially excited since from the corner of my eyes she kept slapping Do San playfully while looking over at our standing figures.

"In Jae-ssi, I'll tell you right Noe that I can't handle a rejection right now so please, will you accept this friendship?", I asked with a dramatic voice, and that did the trick she I saw that she chucked at my antics.

"hahaha you got me, okay, I accept your proposal", She replied. We both laughed and finally saw down. I skillfully made her sit right beside Yong San while I sat beside her. After we sat down the conversation seemed to flow towards friendships and relationships and wedding plans. The whole dinner turned out eventful. I was making coversation with everyone all the while trying to match make Yong San and In Jae-ssi but its turning out worse than I thought since Yong San seems more stupid with girls than I thought.

During the flow of the conversation me and In Jae-ssi agreed to drop honorifics after a while of everyone teasing us to be best friends. It also feels like In Jae's persona matches with mine. Dal Mi and Sa Ha also agreed to drop honorifics while tbey just referred to me as unnie. It felt weird at first I'be never been called unnie before but they are faces I will be seeing most of the time she I visit the boys as well.

After the dinner we all gathered up outside and said out goodbyes, thankfully this time no one was drunk and everybody could do home safe. Once I got in my car I drove back to the hotel slowly. I took my time enjoying the skyscrapers passing by which once surprised me when I first arrived. I still couldn't believe Korea developed this much but understandably it was too long since I came back.

I got back to my hotel room and saw down on my bed taking off my heels while I'm at it. Once I was done I was about to lay down for a while but caught something on my desk.

It was a file.

I gasped when I realised I was supposed to give this to Dal Mi at dinner earlier. It was the file that contained related projects that we were looking up on taking as well as access keys to the lab facilities in the branch company here. I groaned at my amateur like mistake and picked up my phone from my bed.

I tried calling Dal Mi and Do San but they both wouldn't pick up, I tried In Jae and the boys as well but my efforts seem futile. It was already almost 12am so understanbly everyone was unavailable. I wasn't sure if I had time tomorrow either since I planned on checking on the company one last time. I sighed and realised it would be better to leave it at the office instead. With that, I wore my heels back on and drove over to SandBox.

Once I reached SandBox, I went in and went to the floor of their office. The lights were all off which gave an eerie feeling. I walked towards the direction which I remembered was the office while holding the file tightly. However, after 10 minutes of searching for their office I realised I got lost.

Congrats Kim Hara, you got lost in a building. Claps.

I let out a noise of frustration and tried to call anyone who would pick up but my efforts were still gone to the unknown. No one picked up. I stuffed my phone into my jackets's pocket when I felt something inside the pocket. When I took it out I realised it was Coffee-nim's contact card, the one he gave me on our first official meeting.

I didnt know why but I let out a sigh of relief and immediately called that number on the card.

Lord pick up, please coffee-nim~ I just want to know where the office is....

I prayed but even after a while of ringing no one was picking up. I was still walking around trying to search for the right office when I heard the sound of a phone rining. I got confused and put my phone away from my ear to listen. The ringing phone was from somewhere else.

Someone is still here.
