Aubrey POV:
Today was going to be ok, nothing bad will happen. Or at least that's what she thought.
Aubrey got up, trying not to knock her barren mattress off of the empty milk crates. She went over and gave Bun-Bun a pat on the head, and went downstairs. Aubrey sighed, this felt like the millionth time that she had seen her mom downstairs watching tv, drunk. She quietly went over to where the door was, but not until her mom was able to notice she was there.
"What've I told you about leaving the house! You have to do your chores, like... *long pause* doing the dishes."
"Mom, not right now."
"You get back here young lady!-"
And with that, Aubrey left the house.
She walked for a bit, and noticed that Kim and some of the others were hanging out at the park, talking and laughing. She went over there, and they greeted her with smiles.
"Hey Aubs!"
"Hey there Kim."
"How's it going, m'lady?"
"Shut up Maverick, I'm not interested."
"How dare you disrespect master like that!-"
"Angel, I'm the one with a bat, I can do what I want."
The rest mainly just waved, but she was fine with it. She chatted with the others for a bit, sometimes embarrassing The Maverick for having to pay girls to go out with him. After a while, it was getting close to lunch, so they were discussing food options. They soon decided on Gino's Pizza, a place that they seemed to go to at least once a week. They go over to the plaza, and walk into Gino's.
"Hello! This is Gino's Pizza, what can I get for you?"
Aubrey spoke up first, not even the others to discuss what they wanted to order.
"We'll get a 2-liter of Dr. Pops and one large cheese pizza please."
"Ok! I'll get that for you in just a second."
Aubrey and the hooligans waited in another part of the restaurant for a bit, having small talk and just chatting about what to do once they got the pizza. Angel was the first to chime in about if they should have it for here, or go somewhere to eat it.
"How about we go to our hangout spot! We practically have it to ourselves, and it'd just be a nice place to chat in general."
"Angel, that is probably one of the best ideas I've ever heard!"
"Thank you, master."
Aubrey looks at Angel.
"You don't have to call him master, y'know. It's just getting kinda annoying when you do it."
"But he is my ma-"
Aubrey pulls out her bat, and it shuts Angel up real quick. The rest then agreed that it would be a pretty good idea to go and eat the pizza at their hangout spot. A few more minutes pass, and a ring at the front counter alerts them.
"Who ordered the 2-liter Dr. Pops and a large cheese pizza?"
Aubrey walks over to the counter, notifies him that they ordered it, and hands him $20. Aubrey and the hooligans then walk out of Ginos, heading over to their hangout spot. To Aubrey's dismay, she sees that Kel and Sunny are already there. She hands off the pizza and soda to Charlie, and walks up to Kel and Sunny. Something felt strangely off though, probably from the strange expression on Sunny's face.
"Hey, can you guys leave? We were gonna have some pizza here and just hang out."
"Yeah, but is it ok if me and Sunny just talk and sit next to the lake while you guys are here? We just wanted to hang out together."
Aubrey rolls her eyes. "Fine, just don't be too loud."
Some time passes, eating pizza and chatting. But she notices that Sunny looks like he's panicking? Wait no, he looks afraid, stressed out even. Aubrey walks over to go check on him, and almost as soon as she gets over there, feels a sharp pain in her arm, and something warm dripping down it.
