"You thought he was noble didn't you? as he had drowned you in hospitality." Jonathan spoke foul-mouthed with a grimace highlighting his face. Madison saw objection as a waste of time, so she didn't hesitate to accept his backing it up with a less thought out words.
"He looked like a good guy perfectly polished from top to bottom at some point, I thought I was staring at an angel because the moment he had linked hands with mine and took me to the dance floor. I saw trust. "
"Trust can't be seen like depression or pain." Jonathan pointed out."Strangers can't be trusted. "
"You're a stranger aren't you? are you not to be trusted." He adjusted his leg paying attention to the tingling pain that rushed up his legs, he had kept locked in a position. With a few stretches he seemed to have eradicated the pain or so he thought. The moment he moved the leg back in the position it once was he felt the pain sharp and slow race up his legs.
Shrills begged to leave his lip. But Jonathan had chased it back letting out goans in its place.
"You okay? " Madison asked alarmed. she picked up her legs, switched in numerous directions only to fix it back once Jonathan signaled for her to seat back down.
Instantly, her tush felt the hard wood of the chair proven to be uncomfortable yet she saw no need for compliant laying her eyes on Jonathan rustled to the core.
"You fine?"
"Never been better." He lied. Madison felt it just as she had felt stung by the façades he served her way to conceal the turmoil of wit, trapping his sanity.
This unlike the others, did she dare to point out. She saw it rather useless. What good would happen if she had told him he was embedding her in lies.
Nothing, nothing at all! The voices in her head chorused. Immediately she agreed closing up the chapter to that discussion.
"About the man." She continued talking. "He had gone to get me a drink after the dance. Without a thought, I gulped it down my throat asking for more than I could handle and before I knew it the bar commenced to a spin, the people in it turned blurry and the man who had his hands in mine bombarded me a with questions about where I had kept the maps I had told him about some hours ago."
Foolishly,I let it out in a tide and within a brisk he was gone, so was the bar. My sight peered at the dark road of the north which surrounded me thereafter. I had no idea how I had left the bar gotten to the darkest part of the street in the hands of those-" She halted reliving those moment as she spoke. The vivid memories of those crummy men skidding their fingers against her body, stripping her of sanity and leaving her bare in the cold hands of the north all replayed in her mind.
"How so? " Jonathan's voice was a soft whisper setting her free from the endangered spot her mind swerved her in.
"How so what?" she questioned regaining herself from a memory she believed would strive in her heart forever possibly, time would send it farther from her till then every utterance would lead to a journey down the cold hands of the North.
"Madison! " Her name was called in whispers once more and there she realized she had traveled back to the world of her mind. Not so sure when, she faced Jonathan who seem to await a question.
"How so? " he repeated and she had herself questioning the same. "How so what,I seem to have not gotten hold of your question?"
"How so little of you to have trusted a man you barely knew filling him with the reason for your arrival. "
"I thought he could have help. I wouldn't have been able to find my father on my own. I was in desperate need of someone who knew the ins and outs of the North, someone very well gifted in the knowledge of the North." She lowered her eyes in shame for she knew she had been stupid.
"I wasn't the wisest on that part as I had lost everything : the map, my purpose and my mother too. " Jonathan tried to get hold of her eyes as she spoke but couldn't she was talented in casting them upon the shadows little did she realize Jonathan was too.
He lowered his till they met with the sole his feet. "I haven't been the wisest either, sold half my father's fortune for drugs and now the rest of my life is downcast."
"It could become an upcast." Her eyes rose ready to feast on Jonathan's but just as she did he had. Casting upon his eyes to the shadows.
"We need each other, you can pay your debt and get out of this island sailing to the East with a huge wad of cash and have your name amongst the richest men in the coastal regions. " she halted. "All You have to do is render me help. "
"This is not a valid offer Madison. "
"It is and you might just throw it away if you don't think this through."
He chuckled lifting his face. "How am I to trust a stranger, how am I to believe a woman who wandered into my life tore it in shreds and casted upon things I never knew lived in my soul." He spoke firmly not wavering his eyes nor stomping his feet all that moved was his lips echoing words that vibrated through her ears drowned in the sound of the ever-daring voices that lived in her head.
"How would I trust you? "
A smirk swam on her face gradually dying to a grin one that inflated the moment her hands slid up his chin quavering at her touch.
"Trust me as I trusted you because you had wandered into my life too. "
