It was a much quicker plane ride from England to Germany than it was from the States to England, which meant Eric stayed awake the entire time, meaning unfortunately all I could do was exchange longing glances with Bruce rather than sit with him and talk to him like we had before.
But at last, the plane landed, and Bruce immediately rose to his feet, lifting down my luggage from the overhead bin.
"Here, I'll take this to the hotel for you," he said with a gentle smile, which I happily returned.
Eric frowned, taking the suitcase from Bruce's hand.
"No, I've got it," he said in an almost cold voice.
"Eric--" I started, but he shook his head.
"I've got it," he snapped.
I opened my mouth to protest again but Bruce very subtly shook his head.
"Alright. Thanks Eric," I mumbled, walking out of the plane with him.
He made certain to sit between Bruce and I in the back of the limo, much to my continued dismay. Eventually we arrived and he took my luggage, taking it up to my room, which was of course on an entirely separate floor from Bruce's.
"Did you want to go grab dinner with me tonight?" he asked, giving me a smile.
"Oh, um...maybe! I'll have to see how tired I am tonight," I said, trying to get out of dinner with him so I could grab dinner with Bruce instead.
"Oh. Alright," he said, smile fading.
I unpacked while he just sort of watched before he broke the silence.
"Y/N? Can I talk to you?" Eric asked quietly.
I looked up at him, feeling my heart sink as I saw how sad he was looking.
"What's wrong?" I asked, putting a hand on his face.
He let out a soft sigh, sitting on the edge of my bed and motioning for me to sit next to him.
"Listen, I understand that you're an adult now, and...and maybe I'm being too overprotective of you. I'm sorry, it's just hard not to see you as my baby sister sometimes. And...and maybe I'm just scared of admitting that you're growing up and moving on and don't really need me to look out for you anymore," he said.
I felt my heart break and gave him a tight hug.
"That's not true! You're my big brother, I'll always need you. But I am a grown up now, I can take care of myself too."
He patted me almost absentmindedly on the back before rising to his feet.
"I know. I still don't want you to date them. None of them. Not even Bruce," he said, giving me a pointed look.
I frowned right back at him.
"Why not? He's nice, what's wrong if I did decide to date him?" I countered.
"Because I don't want you getting hurt. You're not experienced enough with dating a rock star and the life we lead," he said, crossing his arms.
"Well I'd be able to learn!" I snapped.
"I don't care what you think you'd be able to do! That's the rule! You don't get to date any of them, and that includes him!"
"You just talked about how you were being too overprotective and now you're going right back to sheltering me?!"
"If you try to date him I'll send you back home to Mom and Dad and don't think I won't!" he shouted.
I took a step back, stunned by his threat, before letting out an angry huff.
"I'm tired, I'd like to go to bed," I snapped.
There was a pause before he rose to his feet.
"Fine. You'll be staying in your room all night, since you're so tired."
"You can't ground me!" I cried.
"It's not grounding if you're tired, now is it?! I told you, I don't want you to date any of them!" he spat, turning and storming out of my room, slamming the door shut behind me.
I let out a frustrated cry, kicking my empty suitcase in anger. He was being so overprotective when all I wanted to do was date the nicest man I had ever met, a man who would never mistreat me!
