"Hey babe. I've got good news."
I frowned, eyes fluttering open as someone planted a soft kiss on my forehead. I sat up, looking at Bruce.
"What's the news?" I asked, rubbing sleep out of my eyes.
He sat on the bed next to me, arm encircling my waist as he pulled me against his side. His finger hooked under my chin as he lifted my face toward his, giving me a long kiss before pulling away, much to my disappointment.
"I talked with Eric last night. He said that we're able to date and he's sorry for yelling at us," he said with a smile.
I blinked, sitting back and staring at him in shock.
"Are you...you mean that?" I asked in a hushed voice.
He nodded, eyes sparkling.
"I do. He said he wants to talk to you today too but in the meantime I could tell you."
I stared at him, still too stunned to say anything, before letting out a laugh and throwing myself into his arms.
"Bruce this is great! We-we don't have to hide our relationship anymore! Oh, this is wonderful, we can go out so much more often, we could even start booking rooms together, and sitting by each other on flights, it's going to be perfect!" I cried, kissing him.
Laughing, he jumped to his feet, scooping me up in his arms and spinning me around. He set me down, kissing me again, trailing kisses from my lips to my cheeks, running down my jawbone and to my neck, and I wished he would go further, but he straightened back up.
"It will be perfect. How could it be anything else, when I've got the perfect girl as my girlfriend?" he asked.
I nearly melted, giving him a soft kiss.
"You're too sweet. I guess should I go talk to him? Or-or did he say when he wanted to talk to me?" I asked, so excited my hands were shaking.
"I think he said he's going to stop by and take you out to breakfast, and you'll talk there," Bruce said, still keeping his arms around my waist, and I never wanted him to let go.
I stood up on my toes, kissing him, before breaking apart at the sound of a knock on the door. I reluctantly pulled myself free from his arms, opening the door and giving Eric an almost nervous smile.
To my relief, he smiled back, shaking his head with a grin.
"Fine, fine. You win. You can date, you're right, you're an adult and Bruce is Bruce so I trust him. You should probably tell Mom and Dad though, they'll probably want to meet Bruce over the holidays or something."
I gave him a tight hug.
"Thank you so, so much. I promise I'll be just fine, and that Bruce will take good care of me. And I'll always be your baby sister, don't worry. I'll still always need you in my life."
He hugged me back, giving me a squeeze.
"I know. But you're also a beautiful young woman and I'm proud of the person you've grown up to be."
"And I'm proud of you," I said.
There was a pause as we kept hugging before he let go.
"Want to grab breakfast?" he asked, and I smiled.
"I do!"
