I stood in front of Bruce as he sat on the couch in his room, dabbing at his split lip with a tissue, trying to wipe away the blood. Adrenaline was still coursing through me but my hand was beginning to shake. I took a step back, dropping the tissue, before bursting into tears.

"Oh Y/N," he murmured, wrapping his arms around me and pulling me against his chest.

I sobbed into his shoulder, absolutely devastated.

"Don't cry love. It's going to be fine," he said, stroking my hair.

"He hates me! He hates both of us! He's my brother, your best friend, and-and now he hates us!" I cried.

"He doesn't. He's drunk and he's upset we didn't listen to him. He doesn't hate us. He just needs a chance to calm down," he said.

I shook my head, still clinging to him, wishing Eric had just been happy for us.

Bruce POV

Y/N fell asleep in my arms and I looked down at her with a faint smile, kissing her on the forehead before rising to my feet, carrying her to my bed. I gently pulled off her shoes and jacket, tucking her under the covers and giving her another gentle kiss.

"Sleep well," I murmured, before picking up my phone.

I dialed Gene's number and waited until at last he picked up.

Gene: Hey.

"Can I talk to him? Have you been able to calm him down?" I asked.

There was a pause as Gene let out a sigh.

Gene: He's...not happy with you. He's a lot more angry with you than with Y/N. He's mainly just scared for her. Scared you'll hurt her or she'll end up getting hurt.

"I...I know. Please though, can you ask if I can talk to him?" I murmured.

Gene: Let me ask.

There was a pause before he returned to the phone.

Gene: He'll meet you in his room.

"Thanks. For everything," I murmured, hanging up.

I scribbled a quick note for Y/N but I doubted she would wake up before I got back, as she seemed absolutely exhausted. Taking a deep breath, I walked down the hall to Eric's room. I stood outside his door for a moment before raising my hand and knocking. There was a pause before he yanked the door open, giving me a furious scowl. I felt my heart sink as I looked at him. It was clear he had been crying.

"Eric, can we please talk? You're my best friend, I don't want to upset you like this," I murmured.

"Fine. Come in," he snarled.

I walked into his room, taking a seat on his couch as he looked at me.

"How long have you been dating?" he asked.

"We had our first kiss that day when the four of us were going to explore London but Gene separated us," I said.

"That bastard. I knew he was in on it," he said, before he turned to look at me, eyes narrowed to furious slits.

"That's two weeks. You've been dating her for two weeks and you've already slept with her."

I flinched, running a hand through my hair.

"Yeah. I know. I'm sorry, I moved too fast. But I promise you, I wasn't the one that initiated. She asked, I made certain she wanted to."

"I just don't want you to break her heart! Dammit, I don't want you to hurt her! She's my kid sister man, I love her so much, and I just...I can't bear to see her hurt. I know how we are, how rockstars are! I can't have you sleeping around with groupies behind her back, can't have you...just...I can't have you hurt her."

I rose to my feet, putting my hands on his shoulders.

"Eric, listen to me. I've never loved anyone the way I love Y/N. I'm never going to do anything to break her heart. I know it's just been two weeks but please, please just let me date her. If I somehow break her heart, then kick me out of the band."

There was a pause before he shook his head, pushing my hands away and pacing restlessly around his room.

"She's an adult. I know she is. But--"

"But it's hard not to still see her as your baby sister who needs you to protect her," I finished gently.

"I just don't want to lose her. I wanna still be a part of her life," he said miserably.

I grabbed his shoulder again, pulling him to a halt.

"You're my best friend. Even if she's with me, you're still going to be a part of her life. I know you want her to be happy. She's happy with me. Just give us the chance," I said.

He let out a sigh, looking at me, before gently reaching up and touching my lip.

"Sorry about that. I shouldn't have done that," he said.

"It's alright. It happens," I said with a shrug.

There was a pause before he sat down on the edge of his bed, fidgeting with his hair.

"Alright. That's fine. You're my two favorite people honestly, I'm just glad she went behind my back with you if she was gonna do it with anyone," he said.

I hesitated before hugging him, and to my relief he hugged me back tightly.

"Thank you. I promise I won't hurt her."

"Oh you better not," he muttered. "I'll talk to Y/N tomorrow. If you see her, which I'm sure you will, tell her I'm sorry and I love her and I said you're fine to date," he said, letting me go. "Now I am still kinda drunk so I'm gonna go to sleep."

Smiling, I ruffled his hair.

"Thanks. I mean it," I murmured, saying goodnight and returning to my room, heart so light it felt like I could float.
