The reader and Barbatos have recently broken up, the reader heads back to the human realm but goes on a train to Sendai leaving Barbatos at the station promising to come back.  (The title will make more sense later, and I get Barbatos has the power to see the future and change what present he wishes to be the main one, but for the story forget)

(No Ones Pov)

They sat by themselves, the movement of the train shook the seat. They sigh, pressing their body against the wall and looking out the window. They had sat in the tense silence wondering if it was the right choice to leave him and everyone they had ever loved. Or the ones that cared about them.

Maybe it had been best. Both beings would heal, over time everything that seems confusing will make sense. Everything they had left him would be a clue, why he did it and why he had left him so suddenly.

They saw the many city lights become a blur as the train rushed past everything. They saw blurs of people who had stood calmly waiting for something. They would never know and they would never find out…

(Flashback, The Readers Pov)

“(Y/N) please don’t go” Barbatos speaks between deep and tired breaths, he grips my arm tightly as if that would make me stay. His hot skin pressing against mine, I couldn’t look up at him without my heartbreaking, that would make me stay. I knew he had cried when I had first told him, never expecting that emotion to come from him.

“I have to…” I muttered looking at the ground clutching the small bag I had brought.

“No, you don’t stay with me. I’ll do better, I’ll ask for more time off” I  take this chance to look at him, I see his hair covering his face making my heart shatter, and roughly I had looked away again. Sendai at this moment is where I  needed to be no matter what, after all, that's where I belong.

“This’ll be good for us, I want to fix myself without holding you down.” I sigh intertwining both of our fingers “I’ll come back for you”

He nodded, of course, both of us knew this was a white lie, he chose to say nothing and I couldn’t either as we both watched each other.  This would be the last time my skin would touch his, he took this chance to close the space between us pressing his lips to mine softly, not pulling away for a few seconds determined to savor the moment. That would be the last time my lips would touch his. Even now it made my heart race but not in a good way. He fakes a smile as he pulls away, and I do too. I can tell he is hurt,

The question when all this started was, could two broken souls heal each other?

I soon found the answer was no.

He lets my hands go inching backward, people flood around us, and between the distance, we had between us.

“I’ll miss you..” I mutter knowing he couldn’t hear me as it had been a whisper. I took a deep breath as I walked to the train, only one way to Sendai, and I knew I wouldn’t be coming back. I could still see him through the crowd. This would be the last time I would ever see him but I had questioned if this would be for the better.

Yes, it would be.

Time doesn’t heal, it only rips you apart as it passes by, as it rips you apart mercilessly you are only left with the memories and all the pain you ever felt.

(Present, No Ones Pov)

Their thoughts are forced to stop as the train comes to a halt. The room they had been in fell to the night clutches. The clouds were a dark blue and purple; it would only be a little longer before the clouds fell to the darkness totally.

They had pushed themselves from the seat, they left the bag in the room closing the door behind them. They knew they wouldn’t need anything. They had told everyone they would be back, but Barbatos had been the only one to see through that lie. They had been hoping Barbatos would go back to being his somewhat happy self without them.

This was the one-way trip that would end. They walked past the people, watching the smiles on their lips as they were met with their loved ones. They had felt they stood out, and they did just by their dull expression.

People stopped and so did they, the lights of the city were as bright as they had remembered, a sense of calmness had run through them. It was almost perfect.

Their feet trailed down the sidewalk, they didn’t have to look at a map to know the way and the streets of Sendai. Their heart was their only lead.

They pause standing in front of the now broken-down house in front of them. They had remembered the last time they were there, just before going to the Devildom, remembering the laughter that filled the halls constantly.

They frown as their head falls, their hand clutching at the fabric just over their heart, they couldn’t see them anymore. They knew what they had to do, stop listening to their heart. They trusted the darkness it had been all they had left. They followed the dark streets and sidewalks unaware of what was what.

They couldn’t trust themselves anymore

The lights of a speeding car come from behind them, it snaps them out of their thoughts. It had been the last thing they saw as they fell into complete darkness.
