Jily; Hogwarts: A Love Story (First in Marauder's Trilogy)

"If this lands me in detention, I swear, I will murder each one of you. I know where you all live", Marlene claimed as she watched James and Lily silently and very carefully tip-toed towards the staff-room.

"The point of this very important exercise-" Sirius started, "Not an exercise.", Remus interrupts. After shooting a glare at Remus, Sirius continues.

"-Is to not to get into detention but to prank everyone in this entire school, thus disrupting the ongoing of the school day and restoring perfect equilibrium as for once, dumbledore and his awesome face won't be in control but our, and may I mention, more awesome faces will be." Sirius finished just in time as Lily and James ran back to their hiding spot in classroom 11 which was parallel to the Hogwarts staff room.

"Mate, we would have been busted already if it wasn't the crack of freakin' dawn. Nonetheless, Evans and I have successfully placed the exploding color bombs that we got from Zonko's, in the tiniest corners of the staff room." James explained panting from what might be a mix of excitement and nervousness.

"Do they both always talk like philosophers when you guys do pranks?" Alice asked. After receiving a nod from Remus and Peter she continued to say, "Kinda hot. What do we do next?"

"Considering the staff room is rigged to explode pink fabric, which as described by Zonko's, will put you to sleep if you sniff it in-" Remus checks his watch, "T minus 2 hours. We should start deciding our distraction."

"Oooo! I have an idea!" Lily exclaimed as a mischievous glint overtook her usual expression. She looked dangerously at Sirius and James as if plotting only the most nefarious sabotage of her life.

"I don't have a good feeling about this.", James said looking worried.

The seven huddled up and discussed the final plan. With one hour left, they only had so much time. It was decided that James and Lily would go to the laundry room to use the color changing spell, as it could be a little test for Lily, to dye the slytherin's Hogwarts robes pink too. By the time the prank was over (all magical effects would wear out in 4 hours) the entire school would look like, as Lily said 'a hello-kitty convention', whatever that was.

James and Lily ran at their fastest speed and reached the laundry room, where thankfully, they were the only people present.

"So why would the slytherins wear pink robes?" Lily asked, pointing the wants at the laundry basket containing black robes with green stripes.

"The spell has the same kind of timer as the product we bought in Zonko's. To cast the spell, you need to remember the 11th hour rule which we went over because I kind of made up the spell." James explained while nervously fidgeting with the hem of his robes. "Focus all your energy through your wand and say the incantation- 'Crinus Muto.'"

Lily did as James said and after 3 tries, she managed to change the color. The robes flashed a hot pink before melting back into black.

"Does that mean anything good?"

"Yeah! It means the spell worked! Great job Evans." James complimented as he held his hand out for a hi-five which he received.

"Now let's get out of here." Lily said, just as they were about to take off, she heard footsteps heading towards the laundry room.

James sensed that there was something wrong however, Lily was the first to comprehend the situation and realize that it was probably a slytherin. Right now, hiding was the best option so she pushed James into a cupboard, quickly running in after him and only a second after she closed the door she caught a glimpse of Severus entering the room.

Lily turned to look at James. Then only did she realize how close they were... not close as in the terms of their friendship, although it had grown considerably in the past few weeks, at this point they were very physically close. The cupboard wasn't a place meant for 2 people, or any people at all, yet here they were, practically tangled amongst themselves.
