"Oooh! Is this the Lily Evans you always talk about?" Flimpey asked, vigorously shaking Lily's hand while James' face turned red from embarrassment.

"The very one." Lily replied laughing while James pretended he didn't hear that. "Do you have any chocolate ice-cream?" She asked.

Flimpey nodded and went away to get some chocolate ice-cream.

"Didn't know you talked about me Potter."

"I don't!" James said a little too quickly. "If anything, you talk about me!" He added, "And when I talk about you, it's all bad things." James finished, nervously rubbing his neck.

"Oh! I'm sure." she said while laughing.

Flimpey came back and handed them the chocolate ice cream. They thanked her and went to the gryffindor common room. With only 4 days left, the teachers were giving the students some days off. James ate his ice-cream, silently thanking and cursing Flimpey for giving him so much. After a while, Lily turned to him.

"There's ice-cream on your face." She said going back to the book she was reading.

"Oh, umm..." he used his tongue to try and get the ice-cream off his lips. "Did I get it?"

"No," Lily said, then she reached forward and only when her fingers landed near James' lips did the full realization of what she was doing struck her.

In a million years, Lily never thought that she would ever fall for James Potter. He was annoying, irritating and she would happily hex him, any chance she got. Yet, here she was, looking at his lips, just as he looked at her hand, through his glasses. They were frozen, but Lily didn't want to stay frozen. She knew she should pull away and pretend like none of this happened but since she was practically an inch away, she noticed his eyes. Under his glasses, they were brown, with gold flecks. They softened on the edges and at this point, were met with her own emerald eyes. 'Oh no! This can't be happening!' Lily's brain yelled and, for the first time she really wanted to ignore it and just kiss James.

With every moment that passed, they were inching closer. The blush that had formed on both their faces had subsided. Lily had already wiped away the ice-cream, but she didn't move away. There noses were practically touching And just as they were about to—

"MERLIN'S UNDERPANTS!" Sirius yelled and Lily and James jerked away. "What the hell are you two doing?!"

"Sirius, we talked about this. When two people are found kissing—"

'We were not kissing!" James exclaimed.

"Potter had ice-cream on his face and I was just wiping that away!" Lily joined in.

"Whatever you're doing doesn't matter. We were trying to find James and tell him that Professor McGonagall was summoning him." Remus said, giving up.

"You're not going before we discuss this." Sirius said.

"No, I'm definitely leaving." James said walking away.

"So am I." Lily said going up to the girls dorm.

When James was out the door a smile tugged on his face and it would have been a lie to say that Lily didn't have a smile gracing her face too. James walked towards the transfiguration class to meet Professor McGonagall. All the way through, the stupid smirk didn't leave his face and here he was, standing right in front of Professor McGonagall as she questioned him about who he thought would make a great quidditch captain for next year, staring in the distance thinking of Lily's blushing face.

"Mr. Potter? Have you been listening to me?" She asked sternly, distracting him from his thoughts.

"Yes, definitely." James said with a smile pretending like he had paid attention.

"So, who do you think would be fit for the job of quidditch captain? Prewett's out sick so he told me to consult you cause he says you're the idiot that observes everyone like a hawk." McGonagall stated.

"Oh," he replied thoughtfully. "Alice Fortescue would be great!" He exclaimed.

"Perfect, responsible, strategic and athletic. An amazing choice Mr. Potter, you can leave now."

James gave her a huge grin and left to go back to the gryffindor common room

30 minutes ago, the Gryffindor girls dormitory

Lily walked up to her dormitory and flopped down on her bed and a huge smile was ever so present on her face. She turned over to grab the stuffed bear that James gave her last year as a joke on Valentine's Day, but in an effort to do so, she fell off making a huge thud. Lily grimaced in pain, and surprisingly greeted Alice Fortescue having a laughing fit.

"Lily, it really looks like you've fallen for Potter." Alice said no longer able to control the laughing.

"I hate you." Lily deadpanned.

"But seriously? Sirius said you guys were committing the sin and exchanging germs."

"WHAT THE HELL!" Lily exclaimed, "WE WERE NOT! THAT IDIOT HAD ICE-CREAM, ON HIS FACE AND I WAS JUST WIPING IT AWAY AND WE MIGHT HAVE BEEN AN ITTY-BITTY CLOSE TO KISSING BUT WE. DID. NOT!!!" She said finishing her rampage.

"Oh Merlin. That was a roller coaster." Alice said looking at Lily as if she had grown a third head. "I was just kidding! Sirius didn't say anything of such. I can't believe you and Potter— it's just so..... unbelievable." She finished.

"Oh Merlin." Lily said, sighing, "I think I might—" she cleared her throat. "I just might have an itty-bitty, very little crush on James Potter." She finished mumbling the last part.

Alice- "Oh wow!" Alice said speechless. "But he's such an idiot!" Alice said jumping up and down now.

Lily- "More like an adorable idiot." Lily countered. "But let's not make this certain now," Lily said to the alarming expression on her friend's face. "Let's just go down."

Alice and Lily went to the common-room to find James just entering. When their eyes met, both of them looked down blushing until a mischievous glint passed his eyes.

"Evans, remember how you have to say yes to everything?" James asked before he could control himself.

"Yes." Lily replied

"Can we pull the all-nighter tonight? A sleepover perhaps?" He asked, looking at her with pleading puppy eyes. How could she say no to this? Well, she literally couldn't. "The marauders, Marlene, Alice and you? Come on! It'll be a lot of fun." James said in a convincing tone.

She sighed deeply, "Yes." James whopped in response.

"Let the fun begin!"
