Hinata was startled by the sight before him. Kageyama on the ground crying. He had seen him cry before, but not like this. This felt so much more vulnerable, so much more broken.

Kageyama was just sitting there, on this knees, looking up at Hinata praying for a miracle. Either a hug from the only person he's ever loved, or for him to punch him and get it over with. Kageyama would accept either one.

They just sat there staring at each other until Hinata fell onto the ground as well. This whole experience was tiring, being mad at Kageyama was tiring, and he needed a break.

"- i don't even know what to say. My head hurts and i just want to go home. but today was so confusing. i genuinely don't know what's going on"

Kageyama and Hinata started to giggle. No matter what they were best friends first, and the whole situation was becoming more and more hilarious.

"says you dumbass! Of all the girls you kissed Yachi. you tell me every day how much the rumors about you two make you sick"

"I'm pretty sure her tongue went all the way down your throat"

At this point the two were just insulting their recent tonsil hockey partners. It was such a relief to not be mad. Hinata held his hand out for Kageyama to help him up, being abruptly pulled to the ground into a strong embrace.

Kageyama put his hands around hinatas head, pulling him close and taking in the calmness of the moment. No more drama, he was sure of it.

Kageyama stood up and pulled Hinata off the ground. The pain in his head was suddenly overpowered. He had always had silly little urges to give Hinata kisses, but never like this.

He grabbed the smaller boy by the side of the face and leaned in for a kiss, only a soft one. Their lips touching as they had so many times before. Once then twice for good measure. Kageyama was entirely focused in on the soft caress of Hinatas body against his.

Kageyama still had not moved his hand from the side of his boyfriends face. His words were soft, not meant to scare, almost meant to entice.

"i say it all the time. but- not that like that. Your first name is locked away with the rest of you. Something i can never touch because you don't love anything"

Hinata was surprised by his own words. Kageymaa did love something. Him. His eyes panged with remorse. That definitely didn't come out as intended and kageyama was never one for interpreting words. everything was so literal. that's why his next words confused Hinata.

"ha- your kinda right. I mean up until this all started the only this i cared about was my mom and volleyball. But look at us now. All crazy in a school courtyard, wanting to rip eachothers clothes off."

Kageyma caught himself them. His eyes widened as Hinata just stared in awe. What was going through that little shits mind.

The two started laughing again. Minutes passed before they calmed down again. Hinata looked up at the red faced Kageyama with such longing, fully aware that he felt the same. He took a deep breath:

" Tobio Kageyama, King of the Court, sir bakayama. Whatver I call you it changes nothing, it's you. I-"

another deep breath. Hinata didn't take a lot of time breathing after the laughing, and he had spoken quite fast.

He used Hinatas first name with ease. Practiced and calm, so deep and perfect that it made Hinata yearn to hear him say it more, under very different pretenses.
