A/N: Ok so I got this idea while driving back to college and listening to music. This imagine will correlate with Take Your Time by Vance Joy so I recommend listening to it while reading because I think it's the cutest song! Enjoy!

"There's an ocean inside my head, waves that don't ever rest"

It was yet another sleepless night for James Barnes, no matter how hard he fought to find sleep, it wouldn't come to him. He was either plagued with nightmares or the deafening silence throughout the tower as everyone slept. He couldn't handle either. Running his fingers through his hair and staring at the ceiling for what felt like hours, he decided to get out of his room before it drove him mad. Swinging his feet over the side of the bed, he slipped out of his door and headed for the kitchen to grab a glass of water. Wearing black sweatpants hanging low on his hips, while the moonlight glistened over his figure as he walked by the tall windows. He didn't bother turning any lights on, his super soldier eyes already trained to see in the dark.

But you, were not a super solider. You too had troubling sleeping after an exceptionally stressful mission. You tried to distract yourself with your phone, TV, even tried reading a book. Letting out a big sigh you decided a glass of water and a snack might put you to rest. Padding across the sleek hardwood floors in your slippers, you stalked to the kitchen quiet as a mouse. You let out a yawn and rubbed your eyes before opening the fridge to grab a water bottle. You may have been a trained Avenger but you weren't really expecting anything to startle you tonight. You turned your head to see a figure sitting at the table causing a big gasp to escape your lips.

"This kind of beauty ain't ordinary, you look but do you really see?"

Bucky knew you were there, he watched you walk all the way down here in your tired and unaware state. His eyes taking in every feature. Your messy hair from tossing and turning, the way your legs swiftly walked to the fridge, your tired eyes barely hanging open. He was captivated by you even in this moment when you weren't even trying to impress a soul. He thought you were the most beautiful thing his eyes had ever seen in the past 106 years.

"Bucky oh my gosh you nearly gave me a heart attack!" You threw your head back clutching onto your chest as if it would slow your racing heart. He let out a low chuckle, "sorry doll, didn't mean to scare you." He stood up and walked towards you as you caught your breath, the only light shining on you being the moonlight and the fridge. Immediately you frowned realizing why he must be down here, "nightmare?" You asked timidly twiddling with your fingers not wanting to prod him in anyway. He simply shrugged his shoulders, "I just can't fall asleep." You nodded in agreement, "me neither, this mission took a toll." You let out a giggle trying to lighten the mood. "Do you wanna talk about what's keeping you up?" You had to look up to meet his tall gaze as he towered over you.

"Won't you take your time on me? 'Cause we got nowhere else to be"

He loved how caring you were, always asking him if he was okay or if he needed anything. You had even stayed with him a few nights so that he wasn't alone. But he didn't want to think about any of the horrors in his mind, he just wanted to focus on you because that's when his mind was blissfully calm. "No no it's alright I don't want to bother you if you need to get to sleep." Bucky backed up to sit back in the chair never breaking eye contact with you. "Well to be honest you scaring me half to death woke me right up." You laughed shaking you head while taking the seat next to him. "Sorry about that Y/N" He laughed with you, causing the all too familiar butterflies to swarm your stomach. You just shook your head at him to tell him it was okay because you couldn't form a coherent sentence while looking at those ice blue eyes.

"We'll go dancing in the kitchen, you fall in my arms"

You both sat in a comfortable silence as you were looking out to the city and its twinkling lights from high above in the tower. You couldn't tell, but Bucky hadn't taken his eyes off of you, watching as your lips curved into a sweet smile. Slowly swaying your head to the soft music playing down below from a restaurant. He extended his hand out causing you to knit your eyebrows together in confusion. He smirked, "dance with me." You swore you felt your heart stop and you couldn't hide the smile creeping up your face. "What?" You questioned. He still held his hand out, "come on, I can tell you like the song." He stood now lowering his large hand to take your considerably smaller one.

You kept your eyes trained on his as you slowly stood, walking to the open space of the kitchen. He guided your hand to the top of his shoulder before placing his hand on your waist and holding the opposite hand in his. You couldn't help but giggle at the sweet gesture, "are you making fun of me right now?" He playfully asked, "No no!" You quickly protested worrying you hurt his feelings. "It's just a little funny, but I like this." You smiled at him before placing the side of your head on his bare chest letting out a deep breath feeling the softness of his skin. You swayed back and forth for a moment in peaceful silence. He squeezed your hand bringing you out of your thoughts to look back up to him.

"Ready?" He asked, clearly having a plan up his sleeve. "Ready for what exactly?" You furrowed your brows. In one quick motion his strong hand pushed your waist causing you to spin out, a big smile plastering your face. Just as quickly, he pulled you back in, throwing you in the opposite direction tipping you backwards while holding a firm grip on your small body. You threw your head back laughing and you could feel his chest rise and fall against yours with laughter too. "Did you do this to all the girls in the 40's Barnes?" You playfully joked causing him to roll his eyes as he pulled you back to his chest. "Only the one's I really liked." He sent you a flirty wink causing your cheeks to heat up.

"Baby won't you let your phone keep ringing, are you thinking what I'm thinking?"

You were pulled out of your moment by the sound of your phone vibrating on the marble countertop across from you. You let out a loud groan before giving Bucky a sympathy look as you let go to answer the phone, probably being some boring Avenger business. Right as your hand was about to grab the phone, Bucky snatched it off the counter hitting the red decline button. "Buck! Why'd you do that?" You tried to reach for your phone but he held it high over his head knowing you couldn't reach. You crossed your arms giving him a pouty lip. "You work too hard... I mean it's almost three in the morning, they do not need to be disturbing you right now." You agreed with him, but you were too much of a hard worker to ignore business calls no matter what the time. Not giving you time to answer, Bucky turned you phone off and slipped it into his pocket. "Come on, let's go lay down."

You knew you couldn't resist the offer so with a little sassy eye roll you were both on your way to Bucky's room. You loved when you got to stay with him, you felt so much safer in his presence, but you never wanted to push him so you only stayed when he asked. You both walked to separate sides of the bed, throwing off your slippers, and cozying up under the plush duvet. You grabbed the remote from the nightstand to start shuffling through TV channels, you knew having white noise in the background helped ease his mind if he was restless. Settling on a rerun of Friends, you set down the remote and snuggled up into the pillow.

"Won't you take your time on me?"

Bucky watched as you smiled at the TV, your eyes slowly dropping giving into the sleep. He didn't even realize he spoke out loud until your big eyes were looking up into his. "What'd you say Bucky?" He was taken back for a moment not remembering, he opened his mouth to speak but you sat up silencing him. "Why do I waste my time on you?" He always felt bad with how much you helped him, feeling like he didn't deserve such a pure soul like yours. But he most definitely didn't mean to speak these thoughts into the air. "You're just so kind to me, I'm not sure if I'm worth all that." He spoke freely now that his thoughts were spoken.

You didn't even hesitate to reach your hands out and engulf him a hug, softly stroking his hair, as he melted into your arms. Pulling back you delicately grabbed his face in your hands. "You are worthy of everything in this world I know it. You might not see it but you help others too... you help me. I feel so safe around you James. I couldn't do this without you." You poured your heart out as he rested his hands on your waist, rubbing small circles on your thighs right where your pajama shorts stopped. "I had no idea Y/N... thank you. I wouldn't be able to do this without you either."

You could cut the tension in the room with a knife, both of your eyes occasionally glancing to the others lips. He reached a hand up to your face, stroking his finger down your face and settling on your lips. Softly swiping his thumb across your bottom lip. Your eyes fluttered closed at his touch, feeling him moving closer to you and closing the space between your bodies. The most gentle kiss you've ever felt, but the most intense sparks through your entire body.

"Let's have sleepovers more often." He mumbled into your lips causing you to grin. "Sounds like a deal." With a few more sweet kisses, he pulled you back down under the covers with him, one arm under your head holding you to his chest with the other draped across your stomach. You both smiled finally letting the much needed rest take over your bodies, as your breaths fell in sync.
