"Where are we going?" Bucky whined as you dragged his hand down the busy streets of New York. "You've asked me like ten times and I haven't told you, what makes you think I will this time?" You turned your head back laughing at him.
Bucky groaned annoyed but a small smile ghosted on his lips, just happy to be spending time with you. You had to bite your bottom lip from smiling too much due to the pure happiness you felt in your heart.
Bucky had been having a rough few days, just typical Bucky beating himself up for the past. You were there by his side for every second of it, always reminding him of how far he has come. And that was exactly your plan today.
Bucky hadn't been back to the Smithsonian since the first time he visited. Which was obviously when his mind wasn't right, and he barely recognized the person in the pictures of the display. He read the stories but that's all they were to him, stories. He felt no attachment, and it broke his heart.
"Almost there..." You tell him in a sing song voice, holding onto his hand firmly. Bucky was looking around the streets trying to figure out where you could be taking him. As the both of you approached the museum you practically ran up the steps.
"What do you wanna show me here?" Bucky asked clearly still puzzled. You had now moved closer to him, interlocking your hands and using your other hand to cross over your body and hold onto his arm.
You followed the signs and walked into the exhibit. You immediately saw the wheels turning in his head, "is this- woah"
Bucky still got amazed by the present day technology and how cool the brightly colored screens displayed pictures and stories of him.
"I know it's hard sometimes... not being able to remember life before. I thought this might help you remember, or at least put a smile on your face." You rested you chin on his arm, looking up at him.
After looking around for a few seconds he moved his eyes down to meet yours. "You are the sweetest person I've ever known." A wide grin spread across his face, your cheeks blushing slightly.
You and Bucky walked around the exhibit for a while, letting him take it all in at his own pace. You constantly had your eyes on him, watching his emotions change with each picture he looked at.
Seeing pictures of him and Steve made him so happy, but reading about his fatal fall brought a frown to his face. But he knew that he wanted to see it anyways, it was part of him now.
"This one is my favorite, you look so damn handsome." You winked pointing to the picture of him in the blue jacket, surrounded by the other men. Bucky laughed at you and pulled you closer into his side.
As you left the museum and started your journey home Bucky stopped suddenly. "You ok Buck?" You asked turning to face him.
"I just want to say thank you Y/N. I can't say it enough, you have no idea how much this means to me." You wrapped your arms around his shoulders and rested your head in his neck. "Of course, I'm glad you had a good time."
He squeezed you tight, "It truly was amazing... now let's go back so I can make fun of Steve when they made him a show boy." You both burst out in laughter.
You pulled back and pressed a kiss on his cheek.HI FRIENDS. Sooo I know I've been mia since damn July but this year has truly been crazy for me. Mental health took a big hit and college does not help! BUT I want to try and keep up with these imagines. I just know I can't do stories because of the time. Of course if you have any requests send them my way please and thank you.
On another note, I have a problem with hyperfixating on things and that is now Drew Starkey SO I plan to make an imagine book for him/rafe. Requests also appreciated for that!!
