KORRA’ S POV

Damn I already miss her.” I said as I left the temple. It wasn't too long until I arrived at work. I parked my car and walked in like usual. When I entered, the first thing my eyes settled was on Opal. So I made my way to the front desk. “Good morning.” I greeted, cheerfully. Opal furrowed her eyebrows and jerked her head backwards. She had the ‘excuse me, what did you just say to me’ face, which she only used when she was slightly offended.

“You are either planning to commit suicide today, or you banged someone’s mom again.” Opal said in a concerning voice. “And if I'm being honest, I can't quite tell the difference in this situation. So, speak!” Opal said without hesitation.

I laughed at her comment thinking about that unique memory, but then I replied. “Neither of those happened, or is happening. And in my defense, Iroh deserved it. Damn 61 and still had an amazing body. ” I couldn't help but think about that woman once more, and recall that beautiful night of… well, surprises.

“SO SHE REALLY WAS IN HER 60s, I WAS RIGHT.” Opal whispered loudly. “Ew, you were 19 at that time, that's  gross.” Opal stated in disgust. “And it was the most amazing way to lose my v- card, in my opinion.” I replied proudly.

“That's absolutely disgusting anyway, why are you like this.” She asked. “ Like what?” I stalled as I started walking to my office, while she followed close behind. “Well, you said ‘ Good morning ’ , which isn't something you do. You always say “hey bitch,” really roughly in the mornings. Which I don't mind. In fact it lowkey hurt my feelings not hearing my ‘hey whore’,  because as your best friend, I have gotten used to the vulgar greeting, and yet I love them because I know it comes from a loving place, so it breaks my heart when I don't hear it. Also this is the first time I've ever seen a smile on your face. Sooooo….” Opals said the last line quickly as we arrived at my door.

“Well I guess you'll have to wait, because I have a stack of paper I have to fill out.” I teased. I was about to close the door when she stuck out her hand to stop the door. “Whatever it is, I'll always let you come to me about it, but please promise me you are not going through anything severe.“ Opal said worriedly.

I opened the door wider and pulled her into a hug. She dug her face into my chest and relaxed in my embrace. I would always do this whenever she became stressed or overwhelmed, but we started doing it more often, since the last time she almost lost me. This was our safe place, it always was. No matter what would happen, we would always comfort each other with these hugs. They are so special because we always seem to heal ourselves after. Ever since the first day of second grade, this was our solution.

“I promise I’m okay, there's no reason to worry. Matter of fact, today has been one of my better days. I promise everything is okay.” I whispered beside her head. “I love you…..bitch” Opals muttered against my chest.  "I aint never gonna stop lovin you….bitch" We said at the same time. Laughing at our inside jokes.
