Shiho couldn't scream anymore, it was too painful until she couldn't feel anything else. She was still holding her right arm tight but she was already lying on the floor. Her arm was still trembling.
All the old geezers were just watching and commenting. Shiho could heard bits of what they said even though she passed out quite a few times from the pain.
"... Looks like she couldn't handle it either."
"She looks so much worse than previous bosses. Kamui only need a few minutes to settle down in the same curse as her."
"Should we dispose of her?"
"... Quickly list down the boss candidates left. Be prepared to shortlisted them."
And so on. None of them were concerned of her. This might be due to the absence of Dino and the Ninth. The more Shiho heard, the more she couldn't stand it.
*Control the ring, huh? Fine! I don't want to be controlled by a mere ring either! I won't let these old geezers or this stupid ring get their ways!*
The moment Shiho thought of that and determined to stay alive no matter what happen, the pain was gone. The nerves slowly disappear from the surface of her hand. Instead, the ring was still and quiet, just like what a normal ring would be, unlike what it did to Shiho a moment ago. Shiho slowly got up. The geezers were stunned to see her.
"... The pain is gone." Shiho said to them, "Does this mean I succeed?"
Most of them didn't know how to answer. Shiho smiled, "I'll take the silent as yes then. Do I need to give back this ring?" She showed the ring that was still on her finger.
Nobody seemed to know how to answer for this question either. This made Shiho smiled even brightly, "then, please inform me of the ceremony."
Before Shiho reached the door, one of them told her, "We will see your resolution during the ceremony. The boss seat isn't confirmed to be yours yet. Moreover, the curse of the ring has yet to be determined. You'll be monitored closely. Anything strange happens to you, we'll know immediately."
"I gladly accept this challenge." Shiho said and stepped out from the room. She was hugged before she could even see who it is.
"Are you okay?! Did you hurt anywhere?!" Her mother asked continuously.
She turned a round for her to see, "Nothing special.." She smiled. Her mother heaved a sigh of relief.
"Although my right arm has experienced a crazy pain just now but nothing was left now." She looked at her arm with the ring on her middle fingers.
"... What do you mean by pain?" Her mother asked warily, "Explain." She demanded.
Shiho was surprised to see her mother said that with such a serious face but she explained anyway.
"... Around a minute after I wore the ring, the pain engulfed my right arm and slowly spreading to the rest of my body... That's why you heard me screaming." She started, "But after I thought that I can't die just like that, the pain disappeared in an instant."
Her mother was listening very carefully every single word that was said, "... It was exactly the same..." She murmured.
"... The same? As what?" Shiho asked out of curiosity.
"... The same as Kamui, your father... Karei, ask the lab to prepare full medical checkup on her. Now." She added with emphasize and urgency. Karei nodded and went away immediately, leaving Ciliegia and Shiho all alone. Shiho moved up to steer her wheelchair to a more quiet place. Once they are outside the building, she asked, "Care to explain to me why I need a checkup?"
