"Wow, you weren't kidding," (Y/N) cringed in disgust after smelling her car. (Y/N) and Greg were currently examining Fish-Stew Pizza's delivery car that a girl Kiki brought in. She was complaining about the smell, and she had a reason to. It smelled like expired meat and the trunk reeked of fish.
"Dad's gotten so used to it that he doesn't notice how bad it is" replied the teen. "Not even air fresheners work anymore"
Greg gave her a thumbs up, "By the time we're done it'll smell fresh as a daisy"
Greg and (Y/N) put on surgical masks to block the smell and rubber gloves. They then began to wipe down the car, all the while, Fun Fun Fun by The Beach Boys played in the background. (Y/N) was currently wiping down the dashboard of the car when he heard a familiar voice. "Hi (Y/N)," Steven shouted as ran towards the car. However, Steven didn't know about the car's smell and cringed when he approached the vehicle. "Ew," he groaned in disgust "What is that smell?"
"It's just the car," said Greg as he appeared from the other side of the automobile. "Kiki brought it in for obvious reasons"
"Oh Okay," said Steven as he backed away from the mass of stink "Do you think we could hang out when you're done?"
"Sorry kiddo," said Greg somberly "Getting this stink out is probably gonna take all day"
"Oh, it's okay, I get it," Steven said looking a little disappointed. (Y/N) kinda felt bad for the kid. The gems were probably out on a mission right now, and he couldn't blame him for feeling a little lonely. Unfortunately, he couldn't just stop working, he needed to stick with his boss. "Hey (Y/N)" Greg asked "Why don't you hang out with Steven today?"
"But I just can't let you finish this by yourself" (Y/N) reluctantly objected. Even though he wanted to hang out with Steven, he couldn't just leave his boss to do all the work.
"Sure you can," said Greg giving him a thumbs up "I'll just let you go early, with full pay"
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, besides you haven't seen the rest of Beach City yet"
(Y/N) had to admit that Greg did have a point. He may have been working at the carwash for about 2 weeks but he's barely explored the coastal town. This was the perfect opportunity to do just that. "Okay," said (Y/N) as he got out of the car and approached Steven, discarding the mask and gloves. "Hey Steven wait up"
Steven turned around to look at (Y/N), who was walking towards. "Greg told me that I should see the rest of Beach City and I was wondering if you could be my guide"
Steven's face immediately lit up with excitement. (Y/N) was definitely gonna be in for a big day judging by Steven's face. Truth be told, (Y/N) was actually very excited to see the rest of Beach City. He only ever went to two places, his motel, work, and the grocery store. There was one thing that lingered in his mind over everything else. What made this little place so special to Steven and Greg? What made Greg give up his dream of making it big in the music industry? Maybe, these questions could be answered if he had a day with Steven.
A few minutes later, Steven was guiding (Y/N) towards a building with a giant donut on the top. "This is the Big donut," said Steven "One of my best buddies works here"
Steven opened the door for (Y/N). The place was pretty modest for a donut shop. Not big or extravagant, well aside from the building's namesake on top of the building. "Hey Steven," said the voice of a short blonde-haired girl around (Y/N)'s age "Who's your friend?"
"This is (Y/N)," Steven said "He started living here two weeks ago, so I'm just showing him around"
Steven looked towards (Y/N), "(Y/N) this is Sadie"
"Nice to meet you"
"Likewise"
The greeting was interrupted by a tall kid with a puffy mohawk and stretched-tunneled earlobes. (Y/N) thought this kid was some kind of The Prodigy reject and all though he was taller than Sadie, she was clearly older. "Steven weren't you just here three hours ago," he said in an irritated tone "And who's the guy with you, your new nanny or something"
"Lars, what the heck?" said Sadie, clearly angry at her co-worker's blatant disrespect.
"Listen, dude," exclaimed an insulted (Y/N) "First off, I'm not his nanny, and second why so hostile?"
"Who on Earth gets donuts three hours after they just got some?"
"I don't know, Steven was just showing me around"
"Well I'm pretty sure he can show you around somewhere else"
Sadie had just about enough of her co-worker "Lars," She said the gritted teeth "Quit being a jerk"
(Y/N) and Steven slowly backed out of the store as the two continued to argue. "Well that was awkward," said (Y/N)
"You get used to it," said Steven "They kind of act like an old married couple"
(Y/N) and Steven walked away from the Big Donut and towards the next part of town, the arcade. As they neared the entrance, Steven tripped over what appeared to be a pair of black leather boots. He never made contact with the ground though, (Y/N) used Crazy Diamond to catch Steven mid-fall and stand him upright. "Sorry kid," said an Asian girl who was sitting a bench with her legs stretched out. She had raven black hair and dark blue eyes. She was wearing black boots, with a matching skirt and a buttoned-up black varsity jacket with the word MILLION printed on the sleeves. She also wore a navy blue baseball hat with the letters G.U. printed on it in a yellow-gold color. "Didn't mean to trip ya"
"It's okay," said Steven, brushing himself off and walking into the arcade.
The girl got up and walked away before bumping into (Y/N). "Sorry, I think I need a prescription for my contacts," she said walking away.
(Y/N) knew something was wrong with that girl. She obviously meant to trip Steven and she also meant to bump into (Y/N). So why put on the facade? (Y/N) put his hands into his pockets and felt something. He pulled it out of his pocket. It was a folded-up slip of paper. (Y/N) unfolded it to reveal a message.
We're watching you (Y/N)

"What the Hell," (Y/N) turned back around to shout at the girl but she was gone. "Well, this that's bizarre"
"Hey (Y/N)," Steven shouted from inside the arcade, drawing (Y/N) out of his thoughts "You coming or what?"
"Yeah" (Y/N) responded pocketing the not for later "Just thinking about something"
