Cloudy Skies

Chapter 13

I sat in the bathtub for a while, feeling embarrassed but wish he had done more. I started to get on heat again but just ignored it and washed myself off, letting the warm water heat up my back and clean off my scratches. after a while, I got out and dried myself off with a towel and got dressed and opened the door. I saw Zane on the bed sleeping and decided to go to bed as well, although it was early, I was just too tired to stay awake from practice and seeing Zane with his arms spread out I couldn't resist and laid down next to him and cuddled into him, my fur still fluffy from drying myself off. I feel his arms wrap around me and I just freeze a moment before digging myself further into his chest and laying on his soft white fur. I hear him let out a small growl but not the bad type, rather a loving, protective growl. I felt safe in his arms and soon fell asleep.

I awake to the sound of wind blowing and I'm in a field of flowers and there's a storm coming in on the horizon. I started to panic as I saw lightning and hail coming with it. I start to run but it's as if something is slowing me down. I look back and notice the storms approaching faster and faster. my body tenses up and I fall onto my backside and watch in terror as it seems like forever that I'm held against my will, watching the lightning strikes hit closer and closer and trees being pulled from the ground from the wind and thrown near me. suddenly I see a plane in the clouds, its wing tearing off and lighting on fire as it flies by. the plane was coming closer and closer and I could see the plane logo, it was the same plane my mum said she was on. my body tenses up even more and I start to shake as I watch the plane fly over me and smash into the ground behind me, a stray piece of debris started hurtling towards me. I brace for impact and before it hits me, I close my eyes.

I wake up in a cold sweat and a few tears trailing down my face as I recall the dream in my head. I started to breathe heavily and stress about the storm and my mum on the plane. I must have been breathing too loud cause I hear Zane stirring in his sleep, he wakes up and sees me staring at the corner of the room and hearing me sniffling and seeing tears fall down off my cheeks. I stop for a moment as I feel his arms wrap around my sides. "are you ok, did you have a nightmare?" he said quietly, and I nodded my head, feeling slightly embarrassed. "well, it's gonna be ok, I'm here." he said and pulled me in closer into his chest. I stop crying and slowly calm down. I start to fall asleep again and eventually fall asleep in his arms again.

I wake up again and it's early in the morning, I look at my clock and see that it was 7:54 am and decide to just lay there for a bit and watch the snow slowly fall down against the window. I bury my head in Zane's arm and he wraps his other around me and he yawns a bit. "o-oh sorry" he says and was about to pull his arm away when I pulled it closer into my fur and hug his hand more. we just lay there for a bit in silence when he asks, "are you ok, you were crying last night, and I didn't know what to do." I just clenched onto his arms more and started to quicken my breathing "i-i uh had a bad dream last night, it was about the storm and my mum flying back." I quietly said and a stray tear fell from my eyes and only Zane's Arm. "oh, it's ok now I'm here." he said and put his head in the crook of my neck again and started to shift his body against mine and hug me. I laid there for a bit before my alarm on my phone rang and we realized school was today.

We got up and I saw him blushing a bit, he then started to get his clothes and go out to the shower in the hallway. I did the same and got some clothes out of my closet and head to my bathroom. I got undressed and hopped into the shower and turned on the water. I started to let my muscles relax and hum to myself some catchy song tunes that I had on my phone. after a while I heard a knock on the door and stopped humming, I turned off the shower and jumped out. "hey c'mon we have to hurry up if we wanna be on time." he said, and I got dressed and brushed my teeth before stepping out of the bathroom and heading downstairs. I sat down at the kitchen island and started to eat a sandwich that Zane had made me. after finishing my breakfast and getting my shoes on I got my bag and we started to walk to school, being too cold and tired to talk. we arrived at the high school and I met up with Toxic and Jake who were talking to Turk and Skip already. after saying hi and talking about what we were doing that weekend we went to our lockers to get ready for homeroom again. we got our stuff and Zane, Toxic, Jake and I walked to our homeroom while Turk and Skip went to theirs. I sat down next to Zane already waiting for the day to end so we could to the movie tomorrow. after writing all my things I started to talk to Zane about the movies and how it was Friday already. the bell rang shortly after and we packed up our stuff and went to lunch.
