I watched in darkness as Julian stalked a drug dealer who had been standing on the corner waiting for his clients. Julian searched all sides of the victim and when he was sure no one else had been around or close enough to our location, he made his mark and started to close in. I watched him walk up to the short statured cream skinned gentlemen who had just opened an unspecified drink in a brown paper bag and shake his hand. Julian held on to his hand and quickly moved himself behind the dealer. Within seconds the dealer dropped his drink and Julian's mouth was attached to his neck. I rushed over and grabbed our prey's arm and began to feed.

Once done, Julian and I found a nearby dumpster and dumped the body inside. Julian grabbed the bottle that the dealer had dropped and poured it into the dumpster with him. He took out a book of matches and lit one before throwing it into the dumpster. For a second we watched the entire dumpster light up in flames before we continued our journey into the night.

Upon my balcony I watched him disburse against the night, gracefully blending. Dreamily I raised my hand to my cheek and sighed. I enjoy time with him; every moment I spent with Julian is more than enough to warm my black heart until forever and always. "Moon...you were with Julian until the air changed. It will be light very soon and as you have been informed; your hand will belong to kalen. You can quite surely understand as to why he has been upset tonight. To see you off with Julian instead of spending time with him. Go to him." My sister said appearing behind me. I turned to her.

"And you can understand that my desire to have kalen as my mate is way more than unsteady. No desire in my being is set on the marriage agreement that you and only you settled on Ember." She sighed. "Moon, I do not want you to be alone forever. Even though we are heartless, soulless, we need companionship. No being is meant to be alone forever. That would make us weak. It will start an annoying craving and longing in our bones that we cannot rid of until someone is beside us. Our beloved." Ember said. "But you are giving me my beloved, not letting me choose for myself and honestly, I'd rather it be anyone besides kalen, I'd rather a wolf mate then him." I sneered.

Ember's eyes widened. "I am not forcing anything upon you that I don't feel is right, kalen is a very strong vampire, if you do not see how happy he can make you now, you will later..." she said softly. "I will never understand... Why can't it be Jules?" I asked myself turning back to the terrace wall and looking in the direction Julian vanished off to.

Ember sighed. "That vampire...always on the move. You know Julian; he's a charming loner and never in one place for long. You know it would never work. Regardless of your bond, you know Julian is only more loyal to his freedom. Will he come back for you? Yes, but on his own time. How long did it take for him to come back this time? Soon it will be longer than a year." Ember said with a deadly point proven.

As much as I want him, I knew deep down that Julian would never choose me over his freedom. Over his need for firsthand knowledge of the world. He is loyal to what he loves, and even is so to me but that doesn't mean if he didn't want to, he couldn't leave me. Even a heartless, soulless vampire can break, and heart or no heart, soul or no soul, I'm not unfamiliar to that stinging feeling... all from Julian himself.

I didn't answer my sister, but instead walked into my room before walking out my bedroom door and going to kalen.
