I haven't spoken to Jack for a couple of days as I'm still too annoyed with him.
He's tried to call me a few times but I haven't picked up.

The event was last night, and he messaged me a few hours before asking if I would change my mind and go with him, but I still didn't feel like going at all. I messaged back and told him no, so then I didn't hear anything else from him.

I head into work and greet Kate, before getting started on arranging the cupcakes for the cake stand. I look up as I hear the bell ring for the coffee shop door. A woman walks in looking like she has just stepped out from the Oscars. She is wearing a scarlet red gown that clings tightly to her small body, with bright red lipstick to match. Her platinum blonde hair is smoothed down as best as she could manage but it looks like she's just rolled right out of bed.
Who goes into a coffee shop dressed like that at 9am?

"Hi, can I help you?" I ask politely.

"Hi, I'm Cheryl. Jack's... friend." She tells me proudly.

I clench my teeth and smile nicely, "Nice to meet you. I haven't heard much about you."

Her blue eyes flash at me before she composes herself, "Can I have a mocha please? I am so hungover from the event last night." Cheryl groans.

"Event?"

"Jack's work event... he took me as his date. 4am we got in last night! And I have a lot to do today. I need caffeine before I go home and change."

I take a deep breath before I turn to the coffee machine to start making her order.

Jack took that BITCH to his event because I said I wouldn't go?! And they left together? Did they go back to his flat? Did he sleep with her again? I am fuming but I can't let it show. I can't let her know that she's bothering me. Be the bigger woman, Rachel.

I finish her drink order and hand it over the counter to her in a takeaway cup, "£3.30 please." I smile sweetly.

She hands the change to me and beams, "What a lovely little shop you have here!"

Now she's deliberately trying to wind me up.

"Have a lovely day, Cheryl." I place her money into the till and turn to carry on arranging the cupcakes.

"Nice to meet you too, erm... sorry, I forgot which one of Jack's girls you are."

Bitch.

"I'm not Jack's girl. Goodbye." I point to the door.

Cheryl finally leaves and I exhale slowly as Kate comes out of the storeroom,

"Are you ok, Rach? You look annoyed."

"Just one of Jack's bitches coming in to piss me off." I say curtly.

"What a cow. I hope you told her where to go."

"I wanted to, believe me. I was the bigger person and just said goodbye."

"How are things between you and Jack at the moment?"

"Not great. Strained. I haven't really spoken to him since our argument the other night and now I've found out that he took Cheryl, the woman who just came in, to the work event last night! She was still in her dress so I think something might have happened between them." I admit.

"Oh dear." Kate grimaces. "Maybe there's an innocent explanation for taking her and I'm sure he wouldn't have done anything with her." She tries to reassure me.

"I don't know."

"Do you want to go home? I think I can manage here and can always call Jenny if needs be." Kate offers.

"I think I'm going to go to Jack's office and confront him." I tell her.

Kate's eyes widen, "Ok."

"This needs to be sorted now. Call me if you need me."

"I will. I hope everything goes ok." Kate calls after me after I grab my bag and head towards the door.

When I leave the shop, I take my phone out of my bag and call a taxi to Taylor LTD.
