Chapter 9- The Avatar

As soon as I got in the car, Zuko drove. Mai was sitting in the front passenger seat. Aang and I were in the rear seats. Toph, Haru, and Ty Lee were behind us. Zuko dropped off Toph, then Haru, then Ty Lee, and then me. I got out. Aang was about to close the car door when I stopped him and kissed him on the cheek. He blushed at me and smiled. I smiled back and ran inside my house proud of what I did.

Aang's POV

She kissed me on the cheek! She kissed me on the cheek! Zuko looked at me with his mouth dropped.

"A-Are you two together?" he asked.

"No, we're just friends," I told him.

"Oh. Ya know, you two look good together. I mean, she looks happy with you," he told me

I blushed at the thought of her. I really like her...but as a friend. She's not the one for me.

Later that night...

Katara's POV

I was about to go to bed when my phone vibrated. I assumed it was Aang texting me. I got excited and went to my messaging app. But instead, I got a message from an unknown number.

Unknown

Unknown: I'm back Katara!

I didn't think much of it. Although it was pretty creepy. I turned off my phone and went to sleep.

Aang's POV

It was Tuesday, which meant another day of school. It had been 3 days since we went to Azula and Zuko's pool party. I did my regular morning routine. I took a shower, combed my hair, and was about to eat my breakfast when I heard a vibration from my phone. It was a message from Katara.

Kitty Kat

Kitty Kat: Hi Aang!

Aang: Hi Katara!

Kitty Kat: Remember to pick me up.

Aang: Katara, I pick you up every morning. What makes you think I'll forget?

Kitty Kat: idk. Just trying to remind you.😁

I drove to Katara's house. She had been acting really different since the pool party. She's been giving me compliments, and spending time with me, and talking to me a lot.

When she walked out of her cottage, she wasn't wearing her black hoodie. She always wears it, except when we spend time together. She went into my car, and she was smiling. She looks cute when she smiles.

"You're not wearing your hoodie?" I asked.

"Nope!" she said smiling.

Katara and I had most classes together. We would talk to each other when the teachers weren't looking.

School was over. The whole Gaang and I were walking in the hallway to go home when we heard an announcement from Principal Iroh.

"Hello, fellow students. As you all know, today is the day to reveal the Avatar," announced Iroh.

"Oh it's so gonna be me," I heard an airbender named Jinju say confidently.

"The Avatar is..."

All the girls in the school started running to be next to Jinju, except for Katara, Azula, Suki, and Mai.
