"Hello?" I asked, voice shaky.
"Lex..." Her voice sounding faint.
My eyes started watering, she was alive. I hate nightmares.
"What's up?" I asked.
I was trying not to sound so pitiful because I've missed hearing her voice. I miss her.
"I know you hate me right now. But can you please come make me soup? It's nothing against Jen, she just can't make it like you do." She said softly.
I kind of smiled to myself and told her I would. I also told her that Logan was going to drive me because I didn't trust myself driving right now. She didn't really seem to care because she wasn't feeling good. We pulled up to the house and I let out another shaky deep breath.
"Hey? Look at me." She said.
I looked over at her and she was already smiling.
"You can do this." She told me, placing her hand on top of mine.
I ignored the urge to look down. I just smiled and nodded. Unbuckling and jumping out. I got up to the door and Jen opened it.
"Thank god you're here. She's been wanting that soup for like 3 hours now and I haven't been able to find it." She said, clearly anxious and nervous.
"She was pulling your chain. There isn't a recipe. It's a family recipe my grandma have me before she passed, I know it by memory. She probably knew you would feel upset and not useful if she told you to call me right away." I told her as she let us in.
I looked around the room and felt chills.
"Oh Jesus. Imma kill her once she feels better. It was sweet of her though." She chuckled.
"She upstairs?" I asked.
"Yeah, you know your way around." She smiled.
I felt sick to my stomach. I didn't even wait to move out. God... I was so pissed I rushed everything. I shook the thoughts away.
"Okay good. She can stay there for now. Just wait." I said.
I made my way to the kitchen and got everything out and mixed and ready to go. I started heating the soup and mixing everything in and we heard shuffling coming down the hall.
"I told you." I whispered.
And sure enough Rei came shuffling around the corner wrapped in a blanket. She said hi to Logan but I didn't turn around. I was scared. I heard her pull out a chair and sit down, soon they soup was done and I turned the oven off. I grabbed her favorite bowl and fished out some soup for her, then adding a little shredded cheddar cheese to the top with a pinch of salt, stirring it all together.
I turned around and they stopped talking and I knew she was looking at me, I finally looked up after sitting the bowl on the island and scooting it to her.
She looked so tired, you could tell she hadn't been sleeping well or eating well."Hi." She said softly, after eating some soup.
"Hi." I said back.
It was different now that we were face to face.
"Hey, Logan, let me show you around. You haven't really been around the whole house yet." Jen said, grabbing Logan's arm and pulling her away.
Rei and I both rolled our eyes at her because we knew she did it so we could have some time alone.
"God I have missed this." She said, slurping up more soup.
I half smiled as I looked at her. I definitely missed her.
