Dex P.O.V.

I shot upright faster than I'd ever ran, my hair slapping against my forehead that was clammy with panicked sweat.

Just as I heard Sophie's voice in my head, I'd seen my ring flash.

Biana looked up at me, her eyes averted away from the papers she'd been carefully examining, studying to see if we had any hint of their registry information. However, this was far more important, and I couldn't answer when she asked me if I was alright, because I was scared to break the connection.

I could just feel how fragile it was, and I had to remain my mind still. Otherwise, I could feel the connection that we had sever instantly. It was thin as a thread. Sophie must have been connecting in a hurry.

..I can.. I can hear you... Sophie. I mentally responded, putting force into the words. Passion, love, and the needing sense that she had to be okay. Had. To. Be.

Her voice chimed in my head - weak, barely a sliver of the slightest sound - so quiet that if a pin dropped, the little plink the metal would make would cancel out her voice. She was telling me coordinates..

I quickly grabbed a crystal from a drawer and started to carve it to the numbers she was telling me. A sliver cut off there, a chunk cut off there..

The last words Sophie Foster would transmit to Dex Dizznee for a long road ahead.

Hurry, I'm afraid we don't have much time left.

Biana's POV

nobody does biana pov's unless its like.. a tiana story so i mean- she a good gal tho. this is also very very edited. i don't know why i felt the need to edit it that much, but the detail might be harsh to the point it's boring.

Dex told us to hurry outside, and although the frigid weather thought otherwise, I still hurried swiftly as I could command my bones to move, down the steps, listening to the unidentified material crackle and hiss under my heavy steps, grabbing a cape from the ornate hanger studded with careful lines of jewels and pinning it around my slender shoulders and the cloth brushing my elbows.

The light outside was frosty, and tinted with the ever hint of a teal, bright, fascinating shade of blue, but it didn't matter. The sunset blond's attractive periwinkle blue eyes - slightly reminding me of a prince - were set with hard determination. Courage shone deep in his irises as well, and he was just as scared as any of us - but he was just making the more effort to cover his fear with his courage, and go protect what had once protected him.

Frigid light shone through the thick clouds, tinting everything with frost. Dex raised the makeshift crystal to the harsh light of what seemed more of a moon than the sun, and watched as the swirling vortex slowly brought itself to life, the flakes of light on the edges slightly unstable from the haste of the cuts - swirling around each other like snowflakes in the aftermath of a brisk winter storm, flowing in the wind before slowly coming to a rest on the once grassy grounds. The glow of the portal was drawing us all in one by one, slowly catching our gaze with a somehow mesmerizing trance that settled itself eerily upon us without anyone seeming to notice.

Reaching back into my mind for my resistance, my hard-worked mentality spread it smoothly like a knife on butter around me - a reliable, trustworthy and strong shield that would protect me from the dangers of what looked like such an innocent light from a lantern that could not be contained unless it itself was to disappear into nothing until it was once more called upon in a time of need, or crisis. My shield fought off the flecks of light guarding the portal as my legs dragged the burden of my body forwards and into the eerie glow.

You could never describe light leaping, and keep the same description for the next time around you performed the same action. For some reason, it just wasn't possible.

The warmth was overwhelming, and then it was gone - chased away by the wind of your body breaking down into insignificant bits just to reform into the same person you knew and everyone else knew that walked the face of the deformed earth below the soles of your shoes that guarded the skin of your feet.

As the last of the hot warmth trickled my skin and tickled me to my core, I felt the harsh and cold wind blow away the warmth I thought would stay. Instead, cold tendrils and sharp claws shook me, battering my bones.

And.. then it was over. I stepped out of the light and watched it flicker and fade, before hearing noise around me. I turned around just in time.

Sophie's POV

okay so here's where all the fancy details are gone- honestly idk why i even added that much detail

eeeeee

They came?!  Was her only thought as she ducked under a large chunk of debris that had deattached from its source and came crashing down onto the people occupying the room below.

Tam's hands wrapped around her waist and turned her around - she felt the wind of a missed blade pass her back and looked up to see the boy's face close to hers and his eyes tracing her body for any sign of injury.

Sophie's arm bones were shattered.

For some reason, when she got too close to a shadowy corner, the shadows had snaked themselves up her arm and shook the bone until it was broken in a matter of seconds, and the pain was enough to keep her awake.

"You can't fight with those injuries. I'll keep you safe - everyone else is coming into the fight fresh. No, stop trying to get up." Tam ordered, forcing her down by grabbing her back and pushing his arms towards himself, causing her to fall onto his chest where her head was met by Tam's warm skin.

He wrapped his cape around her and watched the fight as she was, tucking her head underneath his chin.

The warmth felt nice, and almost protective, like he was shielding her off from the harsh reality they were in. She watched as Biana used her reflexes to dodge a hefty swipe aimed at her head, and Dex throw gadgets carefully made with blood, sweat and tears.. watched Fitz take down a guy in hand-to-hand combat, and watched Linh and Marella work together. Lastly, she watched Keefe trick his opponent into knocking his head onto the wall using his new ability.

(pfft ive been reading too much mha i forgot what the powers are called and almost called it a quirk for a second)

But as much as she wanted to throw herself into the battle and fight alongside her friends, something told her that she would get in the way.

Besides, she was right where she needed to be.

Head against Tam's chest, with his arms wrapped around her.

And his face only inches from hers.

RIGHT SO IK THAT THIS CHAPTER IS BORING, AND I'M SORRY, BUT LIKE I HAD TO DRAG ON THE CHAPTERS OR THIS BOOK WOULD BE LIKE 10 CHAPTERS LONG- anyway, the next chapter might take a while to come out but i'll try to make it better than this one. i realized how boring this chapter was and figured the least I could do was give you some sotam
