I'll be writing chapters ahead and making them shorter with more frequent updates. i'll post this chapter once I'm working on chapter eleven or twelve. oh, and the chapters will only be about 800 words. i don't want any complaints, because some stories have chapters that are only 100-400 words. thank you.

Sophie's eyes struggled to process everything at once. Everything was spinning, and her arm was so much bulkier than it should be..

"Sophie! You're awake!"

The blond looked over to see a familiar Shade with the e-boy aesthetic she'd come to adore over the past nearly year, smiling. "Tam.." She said, unaware of how dreamy she sounded.

Tam's cheeks flushed. "Yeah.. um.. I'm happy to see you're awake," He said with a smile, pushing his bed towards hers with telekinesis. "You fell asleep after your adrenaline rush ended. I ended up getting hurt too.. so now we can spend time together!" He smiled.

Sophie found her cheeks flushing, but then froze. "Y-You g-got hurt..? W-Where?" She whispered.

Tam rolled up his shirt, and above his toned abs, a slight puncture wound was visible on his pale skin, smiling sadly. "It wasn't bad. It missed my bones and organs and just went through skin."

Sophie felt tears coming to her eyes, as she kept thinking back to times when her mind had played tricks on her.

It was like running through a mirror maze, but it wasn't a maze. It was just a constant hallway with no end, no walls, no time, and you were lost. You thought you were getting closer, but you were circling around.

Over.

And.

Over.

Like a merry-go-round. The horses stop just enough for you to look up and see the shadows in your room growing claws to grab you. Then they keep spinning. The maze comes back.

Her breath started growing shorter each gasp as she was barely short of hyperventilating. She couldn't think straight. Why had she let him save her?

"This is all my fault," She whispered, staring at him and curling her knees to her chest. "You got injured, kidnapped, and had to be rescued because of me. It's my fault. Why do you not understand..?" Sophie added when he reached out and comforted her.

Tam sighed, his breath hitting her cheek. "Because it's not your fault. You think too low of yourself, when you're amazing and deserve to think much higher. It's okay to feel bad, of course, but you feel bad to the point where I always want to be by your side, just for you." He said, pulling her closer to him, her back against his chest, and making gentle motions on her shoulder to comfort her.

(yall theyre cuddling- they're CUDDLING--)

She still kept sobbing, and turned her head around so she sobbed into Tam's tunic - she was ruining the perfect fabric, but Tam didn't care whatsoever. In fact, he wrapped his arms tight around her waist and let her cry.

Sometimes emotions get pent up. You want to let them go..

But you don't know how.

This seemed like a perfectly good way to do so to Sophie. She felt comfort when she was with Tam, like she could tell him what was wrong and what was right and she liked that she could do that.

She felt at home. Like he was there, and so was she, and that was all that really mattered. Tam gently pulled her chin upwards with two fingers, pushing his fingers up - gently - so she met his gaze.

He smiled at her, rosy lips against pale, creamy skin. Silver blue-eyes against dark black hair.

"Don't tell me it's your fault if it's not," he said, smoothing her blond hair.

Sophie let out a long breath, her breath hitting Tam's face. "I love you," She whispered, putting her head against his chest.

"You.. um.. you what..?" Tam asked, his cheeks turning neon pink.

"Holy mallowmelt. I said that out loud, didn't I?" Sophie said, suddenly turning bright pink as well.

The warmth across her cheeks wasn't anything new, but now the feeling was different. She wasn't flustered for being clumsy. She was flustered for a reason she never thought about.

Sophie stared up at Tam, with a shy smile. "Just pretend I never said that. Um.. unless you wanted me to say that. Or, if you liked that I said that. But uh.. just pretend I never said that."

Tam chuckled. "You're going in circles, Sophie," He said, brushing her hair behind her ear. "If it makes you happy, I'll forget about it. But we've gone through life and death together. I'd just like you to know that there's nobody else I'd rather go through that with."

Sophie smiled at him, their gazes intertwining with each other.

Just like that, she leaned onto his chest.

She felt as if their bodies were built for each other.
