i'm writing this listening to songs written like 70 years ago lmao. also this chapter came out way more poetic/fluffy than i intended but idek how to fix it

Sophie's Pov (finally lmao i haven't wrote her pov for like 3 chapters)

She was scarfing down food.

Geez, this is great! I haven't eaten for what feels like days!

(A/N: she ate a few hours ago in the story but-)

"You're really hungry, huh?" Tam said, eating his food much more well-mannered, and gazing at her through the corner of his eyes.

Sophie swallowed the slippery green root that tasted like spicy ramen she was eating and looked at the non-expressive Shade. "Elwin said that as my body grows accustomed to the new bones in my arm, I might need more energy.. for some reason, I'm just really hungry."

Tam slid over to her and put some of his food onto her plate. "Here." He mumbled, turning his head away. "I'm not hungry."

Sophie looked at him, noticing a faint pink blush across his cheeks.

"Tam! Are you blushing?!" She said with an excited squeal. "You rarely blush! I don't think I've ever seen you blush before, and definitely not around me! You should do it more often. I think it makes you look cute!"

(sophie isn't this enthusiastic in the book but bear with me pls)

Tam looked away and muttered something that sounded a lot like a word Grady had said when the sasquatches got out of their pens.

Sophie smiled. "Hey, don't sweat it - and are you sure you don't want these? You have to eat too," She said, sliding her plate closer to Tam's.

The black-haired elf looked up, the blush fading from his cheeks by now. "No. My appetite is pretty small. I ate before you woke up."

Sophie frowned. "Fine.. but I'll buy you some Prattles the next time we go to Atlantis." She scooped up another forkful of the green root and placed it in her mouth, chewing on it gently. Tam watched her from the corner of his eyes as he took a glass and filled it with some sort of purple-blue drink.

He sipped the drink as he stared outside. The sun was just starting to set.

While the sun itself was too bright to focus his vision on, the sky around it was beautiful. In the Forbidden Cities, the colors were duller. Maybe it was because of the poor quality of the air there. Fresh air for them could probably somehow poison an elf.

Sophie stared at the raven-headed Shade. His bangs drooped just above his eyes.

She turned her head to look at what he was staring at - a sky with clouds flocking towards the sun, with the small shapes of birds chasing after the seemingly fluffy splotches. The clouds tinted pink from the crimson and scarlet sky mixing together to create a burst of color, with luminescent orange staining the edges of the sun, right where golden swirled around the bright, hot orb, that was beginning to set into the snow-capped mountains and green valleys in the distance.

Beyond that was a world Sophie had at her finger tips, but yet to discover.

A scene like this reminded her of something. Sort of like a battle. She looked out the other window on the far side of the room.

Ebony black was beginning to spread its claws against the sky. Purple and blue clashed together as the evening came to a close, and night settled itself. Stars laid against the sky, surrounding a glowing, tinted blue crescent moon. A soft mint green swirled across the sky, twisting itself from an abstract wavy stripe to a shooting bullet across the sky, leaving a trail of stars twinkling in its path.

The two colors hit in the center, a pale, flamingo-pink color mixing with a deep, midnight-colored blue.

In a way, it reminded her of herself. She wasn't sure how. That was a mystery left to her loved ones, not her.

She looked back at Tam.

His silver-blue eyes reflected the sun, causing the colors to mix and turn a light purple.

She scooted closer to him, sitting on the edge of the bed with him.

"The sky is pretty, isn't it?" She asked, making him jump a little. He recovered after a few seconds, though. "It is." He said, never taking his eyes off of it. "In a way, it reminds me of you."

Sophie tilted her head, realizing she'd thought the same thing. "How come?"

Tam turned, looking her in the eyes, and placing a hand on her shoulder.

"You, Sophie Foster, are beautiful as well."
