Sabito was desperately trying to find someone who would help him, as he carried you on his back. The cold air entering his lungs didn't help, nor did the fact that the snow that year was 3 feet deep.
He frantically looked around the forest surrounding you home, praying that someone would be out hunting, searching for plants, anything. "This... had to happen in the middle of winter... didn't it?" He looked over at your unconscious body. "This really... had to happen at all?"
He remembered the horror he saw when he entered the house. You, his 4 year old sister, were sprawled out on the floor, while both of your parents were dead on the floor in their bedroom.
He gently put you down and checked the wound on your head. You opened your eyes a little and saw Sabito's comforting eyes. "Hey, I'm here, don't worry." He assured. You smiled as he picked you up and continued on.
As Sabito was carrying you, your ear twitched and you looked straight into the forest. "Y/N, what's wrong?" You looked up at your worried brother.
"That... way..." You managed to say. He looked to where you were pointing and nodded, quickly running in the direction you told him.
It stopped snowing and he managed to see what exactly you wanted him to go to. "Is that... a house?" He looked down at you, wondering how you knew it was there, but quickly ran to the house either way.
When he got to the house, he felt a strange aura radiating from it. He stepped back into a tree so his back wouldn't be exposed.
He pulled out his knife while supporting you with his other arm. Suddenly, something jumped out and reach for your head, but before it laid a finger nail on you,
SLASH
The creature's head was cleanly cut off. "You... STAY AWAY FROM MY SISTER!" Sabito yelled. He let you lean on the tree while he used the small knife to protect you.
The now headless body advanced towards him. "That girl... so pretty..." Sabito gritted his teeth and sliced at the monster again, this time at the chest. Sabito quickly ran around the creature and finished the slice he had made in the front, making the creature into a mere three pieces.
It was close to daybreak, and the creature seemed to be desperately trying to get away, his body slowly regenerating. Sabito picked up the head and kicked it towards a tree, making it connect with a big splat.
The sun finally rose and the creature's body and head soon decayed. Sabito ran towards you and knelt down in front of you. "Are you alright?" You nodded but you heard something from within the forest. You rested you hand on Sabito's and looked towards the source of the sound. Out of the forest came a man with a red goblin mask and a blue kimono with clouds on it.
"Did you kill that demon?" He asked. Sabito looked at where the creature was before. "That was a demon? Well, I wouldn't say I killed it since the sun did a lot of the work." The man walked up to you and Sabito. "Is that your sister?" Sabito nodded and loosened his grip on you. "What are you doing out here, at night?" The man asked.
Sabito looked down at you. "Our family was attacked this morning. I was in town, and when I came back, the only person who was still holding onto life was my sister."
The man looked at the deep wound in your head. "Come on, I can get her treatment." Sabito's eyes lit up as he lifted you and followed the man into the house.
You were set down on a mat and the man examined you. "It seems like the only serious wound she has is the one on her head. The rest are mere scratches and bruises." Sabito gave a sigh of relief.
