The Light

A crow landed on your shoulder and you looked over.

"Muichiro Tokito and Genya Shinazugawa are dead. Himejima, Shinazugawa, Tokito, and Genya beat Upper Moon One."

You smiled. "I see." You felt the crow's talons leave your shoulder as you stood, frozen in place, your expression blank.

That was until you fell to your knees and sobbed uncontrollably.

Why were you so useless?

Genya, Muichiro, Rengoku, your parents, your cousins, Urokodaki's students, your brother, you lost them all.

Why were you so weak? So slow? So... useless?!

"WHY?! WHY ARE YOU SO WEAK?! SO USELESS!! SO DAMN USELESS?!"

"Who are you calling useless? And weak?"

Your eyes widened and you looked around in front of you, thinking it was a demon. A hand rested on your shoulder, but you didn't turn. The hand was warm, the nails short, the skin smooth. Who was this?

"Y/N, I asked you a question."

Them saying your name made no difference. Demons knew your name, humans knew your name, crows knew your name. You didn't want to turn your head. You didn't want to meet the eyes of whoever this was.

You wanted them to kill you.

"Flame Hashira Y/N, little sister of Sabito, I asked you a question."

Your eyes widened. That was... pretty specific. You finally turned your head and your eyes widened.

"O-Onii-chan?" You stepped back, half in shock, and half because you didn't believe it. This was a Blood Demon Art, you thought.

"Y/N, I'll ask you again." Sabito walked up to you and put his hand on your shoulder. "Who are you calling weak... and useless?"

Your eyes filled with tears and you looked away from him. "Who else? Someone who actually is..." He suddenly grabbed your cheeks and made you look at him, and you noticed everyone standing behind him: Muichiro, Yushiro, Rengoku, Genya, Shinazugawa's family, Miss Tamayo, Shinobu, Kanae, your parents, your cousins. Even the Upper Moon demons, Daki, Gyuutarou, Akaza, and Kokushiibo.

What were they doing here? They... They were dead. Some of these people you've never met.

"Y/N, I need you to understand one thing." Sabito said, stepping back. "Useless people are the ones that never did anything. The ones that were never able to make a change. But look what you did."

A quiet gasp escaped from your lips as it all replayed before your eyes.

"Gi-chan... do you actually like it when I call you that?"

"Alright.. Reng-chan."

"Why don't you make your own decisions?"

"Thank. You."

"It's going to be alright, okay?!"

"Flamboyant...?"

"Oh my goodness, you like Mitsu-chan!"

"A strong husband? Would Oba-kun be considered one?"

"So you're blind? You're really strong, then!"

"Muichiro... does the 'mu' mean infinite? Like in mugen?"

"Nezuko, you're so cute."

"When you're small, it's easier to break their expectations! Right Shi-san?"

You fell back, the space in front of you now empty, other than Tanjiro, who wasn't there before.

"Y/N." He knelt down in front of you and put his hand on your cheek. "You have been the light of so many people's lives. So don't let yourself go out."

He disappeared, leaving you seated on the floor. You stood up, hearing Mitsuri and Obanai not far away.

A serious expression was frozen on your face as you unsheathed your sword.

As if the building was a demon itself, you cut the walls to pieces, grabbing Mitsuri and Obanai just before they were crushed. They were still fully conscious, so you set them on your feet and saw the face you despised the most. "Muzan..."

You looked at the building, which wouldn't stop moving before, but now still. A smile appeared on your face. "Thanks Yushiro."

Muzan gritted his teeth in anger. "What the hell are you doing?"

"Sorry Muzan." You started, twirling your sword by it's handle. "But you just harmed Miss Tamayo less than three lightyears away from Yushiro." The building started moving everyone to the surface. "This... was all on you."
