10. happy thanksgiving

Aurora woke up the next day with the sun shinning in through the window, she groaned and covered her eyes, "Come on Sleeping Beauty, big day" Kai said standing over her, Aurora opened her eyes and saw Kai standing over her, she scoffed and sat up, leaning against the headboard. "Get up, Rora. We have a journey ahead, and then actual work to do once we're there" Kai states, smiling. Aurora noticed he was already ready for the day, "You're up and ready" she says looking him up and down.

Kai smirks, "Hell yeah I am, gonna find ourselves the way out today. I'm ready to leave this place, after 18 years" he says smiling. "So" he trails off throwing the covers off Aurora and grabbing her hands to pull her to feet, "Get dressed so we can leave" he tells her, she shakes her head, "Um breakfast?" she replied raising an eyebrow, "Are you hungry right now?" he questioned, "No but-"
Aurora goes to reply but Kai cuts her off, "Then we don't need any. If we get hungry on the road, which we will, we'll stop for lunch. But tonight, I am cooking you thanksgiving dinner. Happy thanksgiving" he states, "Wonderful, can't wait to spend thanksgiving with you" Aurora says rolling her eyes.

"Oh come on, I'm not that bad" he laughs, "You haven't met you" Aurora says getting up and grabbing her bag and walking towards the bathroom to get changed, locking the door behind her. She grabbed a pair of jean shorts and a tshirt and threw it, then topped it off with a pair of converse, she didn't exactly like it but it was all she had. She combed through her hair and threw it up in two braids, "Good enough" she mumbles throwing her dirty clothing into her back. Aurora unlocked the door and walked out, to see Kai sprawled across the bed, obviously waiting for her return. At the sound of the door opening, Kai looked over and saw Aurora, "Cute" he commented at her outfit.

Aurora looked down at herself, "Please this is anything but cute. I had to work with what I had" she commented, Kai shrugs his shoulders, "Coming from someone who obviously has immaculate taste in clothing, I think you pull this off well" he says gesturing to her choice of clothing. "Well thanks? I guess" Aurora said not sure to take it as a compliment. "No problem" Kai cheekily smiles at her. "Well, we should we get going? Do you want me to drive?" Aurora asks changing the conversation, "Yep, let's go, and no, I'll drive" Kai says showing the keys in his hand and walking towards the door, Aurora following behind.

They reached the elevator and waited for it to reach their floor, "So, what's the plan once we get to Portland?" Aurora asks turning to him, "Well, we'll either have an early dinner then some searching, I'll explain later, or we'll search then have some dinner. We'll see" Kai smiles at Aurora who gave him a confused look, "Searching?" she says looking at him, "Ah, no questions, I'll explain once we're there, but for now, just hush" he says placing his pointer finger on her lips. The elevator door opens and the two walk in and the doors shut behind them. The ride down was silent, the two for once had nothing to discuss. Once the elevator reached the ground floor, they walked out towards where the car was parked, hopped in and finished their journey to Portland.

"Welcome to the hell 2.0, Rora" Kai's voice said breaking Aurora out of her thoughts. She looked out the window and saw this big house, "Wow you live here?" she says, he shrugs his shoulders, "Used too. But then got banished here, and then I just moved around" he simply says, Aurora nods her head as he parks the car in the driveway of the house. "Well it's early, so let's get searching for whatever it is" Aurora mumbles getting out the car and walking towards the entrance way of the house. "Rora, you don't even know what we're looking for" Kai states walking up standing next to her.

"So tell me. What are we looking for?" Aurora asks crossing her arms, "Something that hides my dear twin sisters magic and one of my families grimoire which should hopefully tell us a way out" Kai says smiling at Aurora. "Okay any idea where they might be?" she questions, "Obviously not, Rora. We need to search this house and find them" Kai says, "Okay, where to look first" Aurora asked him, "Well I'll start outside, then you can start looking around inside, just don't go looking in my room" he says his expression turning dark. "But if there was to be a way out, wouldn't it be in your room?" Aurora suggested, Kai shook his head, "Nope, definitely not. Just don't go in" he repeats walking off towards the back gate and into the backyard.
