It'd been a few days since Aurora, and Kai's return to the present time. She's neither seen nor heard of anything from Kai, not even so much a small sign that he was around, he had gone completely off the grid. Aurora missed him, it seemed like only yesterday they were road tripping and swimming by the lake.
She couldn't wait on him, she couldn't depend on him forever, she could've revolve her life around him, that just wasn't her anymore. She was tired of putting all the effort into something and not getting the same energy back. If Kai didn't want to talk to her, then she was fine with that, or at least she acted like she was okay with it.
With her life returning back to normal she decided to reenrol back into college, since she had technically died and after not showing up or doing any of her assignments, she was kicked out. It was very awkward to show up again out of the blue and reenrol, the head had a few questions, which she answered, like where she was, what happened, will she continue with the same studies or something, and having of gone over these with Caroline, to get her story straight, she was prepared.
She was going to try something different, she was going to try psychology, as well as writing. Granted, she was about 5 months behind everyone else, the professor's suggested she do her courses online, so she can catch up and get everything done at her own pace. Putting no pressure on her to get back into working so quickly.
She was thankful for that, because she wasn't 100% ready to get back into her normal life. Sometimes she wakes up and thinks she's back in the prison world, expecting Kai to waltz into her room unannounced with some sarcastic snarky comment, like he usually did most mornings. She hates that how she's thinking, about Kai, last time she thought like this, was with Tyler, over analysing everything he did, or they did together.
She had to remind herself that Kai was different. He wasn't like the guys she went to school with, one. he was much older, two. he was a witch, and three. he knew what he doing. He knew how to get to her, how to get her to react in certain situations, he had a way with words. Each time he flirted with her, it was like it rolled off the tongue, he didn't even have to try like most guys she's grown up with have.
She often wondered if he was exaggerating everything he told her, about his high school life, but then she reminded herself that each time he spoke, butterflies filled her stomach, which was rare, Tyler and Enzo didn't make her feel like that, she may of thought they did, but looking back, they really didn't. Kai was on a completely different playing field than him. They played checkers, but Kai played chess.
Though she pretended she didn't want to see him, that she didn't care, she did care. Deep down. He gave her the attention she so desperately craved, he knew what to do, what to say, he knew everything. She didn't know how she felt, she didn't know how he felt, she didn't know where they stood as a whole. They had kissed a few times as well as slept together.
But did they mean anything? Really? Or were they just both desperate and lonely and only had the company of each other. She often thought about their departing words to one another, she wondered if he meant them, or just said them to satisfied her, she hadn't seen him since that night. She even looked in usual places, or even looked around the room she was in, the streets when she alone, thinking that maybe he was hiding, and spying on her and the others like he did before they met.
"Been watching you guys for months, you guys are my only source of entertainment" he says trailing off. Aurora crosses her arms, staring him down, "You've been stalking us" she says narrowing her eyes at him. Kai laughs, "Not stalking, more like observing" he says moving his head to the side.
But he wasn't. He was nowhere to be found, Aurora tried locator spells, but he was completely hidden, she always came to a dead end. She couldn't ask Bonnie, Liv, Luke, Jo, none of them to help. As far as they were concerned, Kai was rotting away in the prison world. Caroline is no help, she's not a witch so she couldn't do anything anyways, and her vampire powers wouldn't so any good either, no one knows who Kai is, so asking around wouldn't do any good either.
