She told him that she loved him after they exited the parlor.
Again, she told him that she loved him when they were eating jollof rice. He said it back.
The words flowed like cuss words for them. Readily available for their use. The trigger word to their smiles. The physical motion of Xavier pleasuring her, the emotional support of Jelani hugging him and the mental capability to face the problems together.
She said the three words prior to Xavier entering court. Of course, like a strange magic, Xavier said it back to her.
The session began. Xavier looked bored and entitled throughout it — like he had done it multiple times before — which he had; Jelani knew. Xavier came out with his affiliation with Ten — which was difficult for him. He had talked to Jelani earlier on about informing the police on Ten. They both agreed that it would help Xavier's case although he didn't want to. Jelani was shocked when Xavier told her how he knew Ten, personally.
Once upon a time, Jerry had been seeing someone. Jerry and Xavier weren't that close at the time but Jerry still told Xavier about the someone he was seeing. Strangely enough, Ten and Jerry were once lovers — until Ten's life down-spiraled and he turned to dealing. Then he moved on, got married and had a daughter.
Knowing Jerry's sensitivity towards Ten; Xavier anticipated reporting him. But his life had been ruined by the guy and the only way to move on was to get rid of the problem — Ten. Xavier had been Ten's most loyal customer since he was 17 — and now Xavier was 28. He figured — fuck it. With his rage and anger building up for days on end, he came clean to Jelani; he came clean to Jerry (making sure that he'd be okay with it) — and he agreed that it indeed was the best thing to do. Ten had repeatedly harassed Xavier, threatened Xavier...and in some cases even assaulted Xavier and now, he had had enough.
