Chapter 38

It's about 4 o'clock and the boys and I are heading into town. My phone buzzed earlier — Tobi has sent me a little scavenger hunt for my three chaos gremlins.

The sun is beating down on us as we walk through crowds of people along the Ibiza strip. Bars, neon signs, the smell of sunscreen and cheap alcohol — it's all loud and messy and so very... Sidemen.

People glance at the boys behind me and laugh.
To be fair... they look like my very obedient pets for today.

We stop at a small shop for water. Harry and JJ head inside while Simon and I stay outside. My phone buzzes again.

From Tobi:
    1.    Find a Spanish flag and buy it
    2.    Go to the busiest bar you see and order the strongest drink
    3.    Find a cliff to jump off (last to jump does it naked)
    4.    Find the yacht with the Sidemen flag
Good luck :)

I feel Simon leaning over my shoulder reading.

"Hey!" I shove him away and he groans dramatically, smirking.

"You better hope it's me who has to jump naked," he says, nudging my shoulder.

I snort. "I hope it's Harry."

His mouth drops open in betrayal.

In one smooth (and very rude) movement, he grabs my legs and throws me over his shoulder.

"PUT ME DOWN YOU LANKY PRICK!"
I smack his back with my fists, laughing so hard I'm practically wheezing.

"Looks like you're my bitch now," he says through his laughter.

Harry and JJ walk out just in time, water bottles in hand.

"What's happened here then?" Harry asks, holding a bottle out to me upside down over Simon's shoulder.

I grab it, reach down, and squeeze Simon's ass.

He yelps. Finally drops me.
Victory.

I hop back onto my feet, fixing my hair as the three boys stare at me like soldiers waiting for orders.

I lift my vlogging camera and hit record.

"Right, boys. Challenge one — find a Spanish flag and buy it."

"Easy," Harry says, clapping his hands together—right as JJ's eyes widen behind me.

I turn to see what he's looking at.

A tiny stand selling keychains, shirts, and—conveniently—Spanish flags.

"That's the perfect place!" JJ bolts past me.

"JJ, slow down!" I groan, following him as Simon and Harry jog after us.

JJ arrives at the stand and starts digging through everything like a hyper toddler. Harry steps up to the owner.

"Hello," he says politely. "Do you have Spanish flags?" The man blinks at him, confused.

Harry tries again, pointing at a keychain. "This... but big?"

Simon steps forward casually.
"¿Venden banderas españolas?"

I blink. Harry blinks. JJ blinks.

"Google Translate, boys." Simon lifts his phone proudly.

"Cheater," JJ pouts.

The man disappears into a cupboard, returns with an actual full-sized Spanish flag. I film their reactions as the boys cheer, JJ tosses him a generous tip, and we head back out into the sun.

"Smart thinking, Simon," I tease.

He smiles at me with that boyish, soft smile — the one that still makes my stomach flip.

"Right!" I shout. "Next challenge—"

Harry and Simon instantly cheer like excited golden retrievers.

"Boys." I raise an eyebrow.

Immediate silence.

"You have to go to the busiest bar and order the strongest drink you can."

"Easy," they grin, marching down the strip like they're going into battle.

JJ stops first, outside a place called Café Mambo. Techno blasts from inside — and without hesitation, I'm already walking in, Harry following.

"Hey, wait!" Simon calls behind us, but Harry and I are already two-stepping like we're at a rave in 2017.

The boys catch up and JJ sticks a camera in my face.

"Who would've thought little Millie Watters likes techno?"

"There's a lot you don't know about me," I say, glancing at Simon.

He goes red. JJ gags dramatically.

"Millie! I don't need to know that!"
He drags Simon away by the arm, still gagging.

Simon and JJ hit the bar to find the strongest drink while Harry and I keep dancing, the bass vibrating through the floorboards.

The sun is starting to set, painting everything gold. I wander out onto the white decking, camera in hand. Sun loungers. The beach below. Waves catching the last light of the day.

I set my camera on the railing, take a breath, and just look at the view.

Behind me, JJ screams something about the drink killing him, but for once, it fades into background noise.

I'm... happy.
Properly happy.

In Ibiza. With my boyfriend. With my best friends. A life I didn't think I'd ever have.

Hands slide gently onto my waist. I jump—just a little—before calming when I see him.

"It's gorgeous here, isn't it?" Simon murmurs.

"It really is," I say softly. "I'm so happy I'm here."

He rests his chin on my shoulder, eyes on the orange horizon.

"I'm happy you're here too."

it's been a while hello!! I've been feeling creative recently and wanted to write again so here we go!

Just a warning I think the next couple of chapters I'm going to do a little time skip, so it's closer to now rather than 2/3 years ago probably like a year ago so they're all in the houses/flats their in now and I'm going to have Millie in a flat of her own

Also can I just say thank you thank you thank you guys so so so much for 126k!!! It is absolutely mental and I can't thank you guys enough from the bottom of my heart, I've written many fanfics before and they've hardly scraped 300 reads so the fact that people read this and enjoy it just makes me so happy so thank you all again!
