Amelia

As soon as the front door slammed shut, I quickly opened my bedroom door and looked round only to see Sofia crying as she ran to the fire looking like she was about to put her hand into the flames.

Running over to her, I pulled her back and wrapped my arms around her as she tried to fight me.

"Are you stupid?" I yelled at her as she tried to get to the fire.

She remained silent as she cried and as I looked into the fire, I saw what she was wanting to try and retrieve.

"The book Elias made for you? How? What? Wait, did he throw it in the fire?".

Sofia continued to cry in my arms, but all I could feel was anger.

Even though I hated Elias for what he did to Sofia, I trusted him more than this new guy. He seemed like a shark circling it's prey for their own gain.

Sofia had the world. She had her own business, she had the expensive cars and finest jewellery, but if there was a fire and she could only save 1 possession, I knew it would have been that book. Obviously once Elias broke her heart, she threw it out. But for some reason, it had managed to come back to her.

But this was wrong. That wasn't his to destroy. And judging from the state of my sister, she wasn't ready to let go of it.

"I should kick him where the sun don't shine" I growled out as my grip on her tightened until she started to laugh.

"I always knew you inherited mum's twisted side. But h-he means good. He wants"-

"Shut up Sofia. I know you're upset and still hurt, but you're not seeing what I am".

Sofia turned around and frowned as she wiped away all evidence of her tears.

"What do you mean?" she asked with such innocence. I hated seeing this side of her. Sofia and I were very similar, we were the troublesome twosome and I sought to be like the powerful boss she was. But now she was like a helpless puppy lost and looking for direction.

"It's a sister sense. Every time I see him, I just get bad vibes. He looks at you like he's won the lottery and that ain't a good thing. I may not have many friends or be sociable like you, but I observe and there's something sinister about him. He's also insanely controlling. You barely know him and he's already destroyed your prize possession. You may be blind to him, but I won't let you get hurt again. Screw school work, I have some investigating to do".

Sofia shook her head and smirked at me.

"You've been watching too many crime shows. And seriously Amelia, a sister sense? No what I get from my 'sister sense' is P-A-R-A-N-O-I-A. Paranoia".

That bitch had her under his spell already and I was not going to let him chip his way into her heart without knowing his intention or what he was clearly hiding.

Even though I wanted to protest and fight against her words, I didn't want to upset her anymore. I'd leave her in the dark and do my own research on him.

"Did you name your kitten? She's currently hissing at the door. See, she senses it too" I teased. But it was a well known fact that animals can also sense danger before humans.

"Shut up Amelia. And her name is Elladore, a sort of mix of mum and dad's name. What about yours?".

Looking towards my open bedroom door, I couldn't help but laugh as my little kitten ran towards me but got distracted by everything she passed.

She stumbled around jumping on top of cushions and began clawing at the carpet before her fiery eyes settled on mine.

She bounded over to me and jumped into my open palms.
