The next day

Sofia

Thanking Elias once he handed me a large bag full of food and toiletries, he gave me a small smile before retreating back to the same position he had been standing at for nearly 24 hours.

Like always, he was stood outside watching over us and keeping us safe from any possible attacks.

As I placed the bag on the table, I looked up at mum feeling her intense gaze on me only to frown at her eyebrow wiggles.

"When am I getting some grand babies?" she smirked before instantly rummaging through the bag frowning at Elias' choice of food and drink.

"Honey, I love Elias, but why he has brought me all this healthy food?" mum growled out holding up a pot of oatmeal.

"Doctor's orders. You need nutritious food to help you gain weight. Also he wants you eat soft foods for now" I tried to convince mum, but she wasn't having any of it.

"A pizza would do the trick and"-

"Mum, for once please stop being stubborn and listen to the medical professionals. Please" I begged out through my exhausted state.

Rubbing at my tired eyes, I looked at her with complete desperation. I had been by her side for 24 hours with no sleep. They offered me a bed next to her, but I couldn't sleep knowing the enemy was still at large and I had no doubt that Giovanni already knew about mum and dad being saved. I had to protect them at all costs.

"I-I'm sorry sweetheart" she reached out and stroked my cheek lovingly before pulling out a freshly made fruit smoothie Elias must have bought from a local food market.

Smiling at her gratefully, I looked down and played with my fingers as mum began to tuck into the homemade soup Grandma made for her.

"As I was saying, Grand babies?" she repeated causing my cheeks to turn red.

"N-No mum. We're just friends".

Truthfully, I didn't know what we were. Lovers? Friends with benefits?

"Right and I'm the virgin mother Mary, you are the world's worst liar Sofia Rose Hendricks. I am not dumb, I see the way you two look at one another. I was wondering if I should leave the room to give you privacy when he came in, you know if you want to go have a stress reliever session with him, I'm not stopping you. Believe me, your dad and I are the same and"-

"Oh my God mum, I don't want to hear that. Blimey, have they given you morphine or something? If you don't shush, I'll have them sedate you".

"Alright alright, I'm just messing. But seriously, I-I do want to apologise for keeping the truth hidden from you. It was the only way to"-

"-save me, I know mum. I saw the video. As hurt as I was, I understand why it was done. I just wish you and dad could have trusted me to at least know the truth. The guilt I feel every time I look at Elias. It wasn't his fault and yet he was the scapegoat. He took on all my hatred only to endure more abuse at the hands of another woman. I don't deserve him. I love him and he loves me, but I don't know if he wants to be with me".

Mum put down her drink and glared at me the way she did when she catches dad picking at the dinner whilst mum was cooking it.

"If I wasn't connected to all these wires, I would have shaken some sense into you. Elias knew what would happen and accepted it. As much as it wasn't that amazing man's fault, it also wasn't yours. And I'm no relationship expert, but that man worships the ground you walk on. Also Amelia has informed me of everything. He saved you and your siblings. He gave you the strength to become a leader. He gave you the push to become a goddamn mafia queen. A power couple taking on the evil of the mafia world. Now, how can you sit here questioning what you two are? You are soulmates and there is nothing your father and I want more than that. God, the amount of times your dad wanted to lock you away from boys. But I know that he already sees Elias as a son in law. I think you need to be honest and open with your feelings and"-
