These are the list of things I find out right away when texting Jason.

1. He loves using emojis.

2. He rarely abbreviates and almost always has the perfect spelling and grammar.

3. He replies back instantly.

4. Rarely gives one word texts.

I feel like he actually sits there staring at the screen. He probably stares at his phone intensely waiting for a message to pop up on the screen. I smile, one thing I can't stand is when a person doesn't reply quickly when you know they're not busy.

Jason and I must've been texting each other for hours because I didn't realize how late it gotten. My bedroom window shows darkness. I can smell roast beef in the oven, making my mouth water. Guess it's almost time for dinner.

"Beth," Cora calls from her room.

"What?" I ask annoyed.

"Come quick!" She says in a quivering voice.

Knowing that something is wrong, I decide to check it out. Cora has been acting strange recently. All this nonsense about seeing Karl. Okay, I hear his voice but I don't actually see the deceased guy standing before me. That's just crazy, I don't believe in ghosts.

Cora is pointing towards her closet with terror in her eyes. My annoyance begins to grow bold. She has got to be kidding me right? Does Cora really think I will fall for the same dumb stupid trick that she pulled just recently. I'm not that stupid, I know not to fall for the same tricks.

"Beth, I'm serious." Cora cries.

"Okay, okay!" I say.

This is seriously going to make me mad if this is some stupid joke. I reluctantly walk towards her closet. Pausing at the door handle, I take small deep breaths. I brace myself for what might happen. The lights in the house starts to flicker wildly. I look up in surprise.

"Mom! What's going on?" I yell.

Cora is shaking, rubbing her bare arms. Goosebumps appear on my skin. Mom doesn't answer, John doesn't either. I ignore the flickering lights and yank the door open. A rush of chilling cold air hits me straight on causing me to let out a rambunctious gasp. My skin is now crawling uncontrollably.

Bethany.......

Cora..........

Come up to the attic......

"Karl?" Cora asks.

My eyes pop out of my sockets. Karl is the one that's making all these lights go weird.

You will come.....

His voice hisses in my brain. The deception of my tears inaugurate, decieving my despondency. I wipe my face in surprise. My hand comes away with blood.

What is happening to me? Cora is now sitting on the ground with her eyes closed. She's singing some kind of song that sounds eerily familiar. This is not happening. I'm dreaming....this is all a dream. This can't really be happening right now.

I give myself a hard pinch and grimace in pain. My stomach drops to my feet. It feels like the air is thinning. This is real. I continue to touch my eye which is now dripping with blood.

Darkness
Comes to haunt us at night
Devils
Creep into the nightly ghostly towns
Things that seem eerie
Comes running back to you
Its the time of the deadly hour
When the clock strikes three
And the ghost will be singing
Come forth to me
Come and join me in the darkness

Cora continues to sing the song over and over again. Her eyes slowly open, her whole eye black. The sight of her shocks me making me stumble back.

"Be afraid, be very afraid. " Cora hisses.

"Mom! John! Please help us!" I yell.

No one answers me and my fear rises up even more. I hear a scream downstairs making my heart beat a thousand miles per minute. I squeeze my eyes shut while yelling help.

"Help me!" I scream.

I hear footsteps coming towards me. My eyes open and I immediately regret it. Cora is now laying on the floor in pieces.

A man in his early 40's stands above her holding a knife stained with blood. The blood drips down the carpet one by one. He starts to walk towards me. I get up to run but before I could, I feel a searing slash on my arm. I yelp in pain.

Aaaaahhh! I let out a bloodcurdling scream. I'm sure the whole neighbourhood heard me. Someone is calling my name. It sounds like its far away.

Bethany!

Beth!

Bethany!

I jolt up in shock. I'm gasping and out of breath. My mom stares at me with worry. The sun is shining through my white lace curtains, making my room vibrant. Rays of sunlight hit my face making me warm.

My head is fully beaded with sweat. It was a nightmare, I tell myself. I'm okay. I start to cry hysterically making me annoyed with myself.

Just a dream, it wasn't real. My mom runs her hand through my hair.

"I was so worried about you."

"It's alright, it was a dream."

"You were yelling help and I came rushing in."

"I'm sorry mom."

"It's alright, I'm glad you're okay. You fell asleep last night. I saw you were peacefully asleep so I didn't want to wake you. You missed dinner so you must be hungry."

My stomach grumbles at the mention of dinner. I am undeniably hungry. Mom laughs at that.

"Why don't you come join us for breakfast?"

"Sure!"

Mom leaves me and I jump out of bed cleaning myself up. I take off my tank top from last night putting on a new tank top. There in the mirror I see something on my arm. An angry red line is vivid. I touch it gently making myself wince. The nightmare jumps back at me. Karl came after me with a knife. He cut my arm. This is in the exact place as it was in the dream.
