I look at my scar, afraid. The coincidence is too great. My eyes squeeze shut willing to forget what happened. That dream felt way too real.
The hunger overpowers my thoughts making me go downstairs. Mom is cooking bacon and eggs. My mouth waters at the sight and the delicious smell. Cora is happily stuffing her face with bacon. I smile, Cora is alright. At least she seems alright.
I take a seat next to her at the table. John is preoccupied with the newspaper. Mom brings me my breakfast and I greedily dig in. I eat like I will never get fed again. Mom laughs at this.
"Slow down big eater!" Mom says.
"Okay." I say with my mouth full. This only succeeding in food dropping out of my mouth. John gives me a look of disgust and I mentally give him the middle finger.
"Eeew!" Cora exclaims.
I roll my eyes at her. Deciding to take my mom's advice, I slow down to chew my food properly.
"Yeah, yeah. Whatever! I'm hungry, jeez." I say.
Mom walks over to us and takes a seat next to John. She hands him a cup of steaming hot coffee.
"So we're invited to our neighbhor's party!" Mom says.
John almost chokes on his coffee. I bite my tongue to stifle laughter that was surely going to get me into trouble. Apparently, John is not aware of mom's plans. As usual, no matter what; mom always likes to accept party invitations.
"Why? Let's just stay home!" John pleades.
If John thinks mom would give in that easily, he's wrong. It's just a party, what's up with him always being so seclusive? I stare at my plate of bacon, bracing for full impact. Breathing in, then out slowly.
"Come on John, it's just a little party!"
John sighs putting down his newspaper. He picks at his food staring deeply in to it.
"Okay, fine."
Mom does a little happy dance and gives John a kiss. Cora and I look away in disgust. We make gagging motions to each other out of their view. Mom is such a pushover. When someone does one thing that makes her happy, she goes all crazy to make them happy in return.
"When's the party?" Cora asks.
Mom starts to collect our empty dishes. I get up and help wash them.
"It's tonight at 7pm to 12am, but we'll only stay to 11pm." Mom answers.
"Well, I better get to work. See you later guys." John says.
"Alright honey." Mom replies.
I smile in joy, good riddance. He is such a pain in the arse to have around. Literally, he drives me up the wall. I'm suprised I've been so composed around him, I can just feel myself want to hit him or something.
Jason pops into my mind making me smile.
"Mom, can I bring a friend?"
Mom smiles at me in suprise. She gives a nod.
"Of course honey, I'm glad you already made a friend. The party is pretty much for everyone in the neighbourhood."
I am now grinning ear to ear from uncontrollable excitement. Jason can come with me to the party. Eagerly, I take out my phone and start to text Jason.
Hey :)
What's up beautiful?
My heart sings at his use of beautiful.
There's a prty 2nite, wanna come w/me?
Yeah! Im there. What time?
Be here @ 6:50
Okay, c ya later
:) later Jay
I look up and Cora is looking at me with a smirk on her face. She makes her hands form into a heart shape. Then she starts to let out air kisses making me groan.
"Beth has a crush, Beth has a crush...." Cora sings.
Mom smiles giving me a raised eyebrow. A hint of joy and protectiveness is shown through her eyes.
"Cora, we just met...jeez!" I say but I start to laugh.
"You guys are cute!" Cora exclaims emphasizing the word cute.
I roll my eyes and feel heat coming up to my cheeks. Cora and mom sees this and starts to bug me about it.
"Looks like someone's got a thing for someone." Mom says.
I just sit at the couch, pretending I don't hear them. You can say I am a horrible liar. So once they start asking me questions, I won't be able to get out of it.

6:50 pm
Mom, John and Cora are already in the car. I'm sitting on a chair outside of the porch waiting for Jason to pick me up.
"Are you sure he's coming?" John asks.
"Yes!" I yell.
"Okay, well I guess we'll meet you there." John replies.
Mom looks at him angrily.
"John! We have to wait!" Mom yells.
John gives out an angry puff and I smile to myself. Two minutes gone by and still no sign of Jason. When I felt like I was ready to give up. Jason comes down the road in a shiny black Camaro. Damn, this guy has sick wheels. To my utter embarassment, John gives out a high whistle.
My embarassment continues when mom calls out.
"Take good care of Bethany!"
"I know how to use a gun!" John calls out.
Holy shit! Did John just say that? I look over at John giving him a what's wrong with you look. I hear mom telling him to drive and stop acting like a child. Oh, this day is just getting better and better.
Jason steps out of the car wearing a blue t-shirt and white khakis. How can he look so damn hot? All I'm wearing is a strapless torqouise dress, 2 inches above kneelength. He eyes me with appreciative eyes. Jason grabs my hand softly sending shivers through my body.
"You look sexy..." he whispers.
My heart pounds wildly at my chest, so wild that I could go into cardiac arrest. I take deep breaths trying to calm myself. I will not lose it in front of Jason.
"Thanks, " I say. "You look nice."
He seemed hurt by my choice of word.
"Just nice?"
I roll my eyes at him giving him a nudge at the side.
"You look hot."
He smiles widely at that. Jason puts his arm over me and guides me to his car.
"I love your car!" I say.
"Its sick!" He exclaims. " I just got it a month ago."
I buckle myself in, Jason does the same.
"Let's go party!" He yells.
