Alex and I poofed into the studio, Alex landing on top of the piano while I opted to poof onto the much more comfortable couch that Luke claimed. The couch was literally one of the best places in the world - not that I would ever admit that to Luke.

"Whoa, hey man," Reggie greeted Alex. Rude. "Where you been?" My inner English teacher is shaking her head at your sentence structure Reginald.

"Um, kinda everywhere," Alex answers vaguely, "yea, I met a new ghost friend."

"For real?" Reggie asked, amazed, and Alex nodded.

"Yeah, he answered a ton of questions," he continued.

"Yeah? Like whether Julie's gonna join the band or not?" Luke interrupted, tone dark as he snatched the paper sitting on the piano out from under Alex. Someone was a bit moody today. And when had he even invited her to join the band? Although I have to admit, they were all incredible when they performed together earlier. Shit, that was today? Felt like it was a decade ago. The boys continued to talk but I just zoned out and stared at the ceiling, bored. I mean, I'd expected this to happen. They would get tired of me, leave me out, move on with their musician band shit with Julie, and eventually forget me as I wandered the Earth alone and depressed for the rest of eternity.

"Drumming is so 90s, we're just gonna stomp our feet now," Luke said to Alex, pulling me from my thoughts. Well that was rude.

"Okay," Alex said with a sarcastic smile. Oh, Luke was gonna get it now. Sassy Alex had come out to play. "You know what else is so 90s? Being rude. Alright, get woke, these are sensitive times." Alex slapped the song journal against Luke's chest as he gave it back to the shocked Luke. My man Alex just came out here and destroyed Lukey.

Alex turned to Reggie and whispered, "I learned that from my ghost friend."

"Woke," poor confused Reggie repeated, "it's a cool word. What does it mean?"

"No clue," Alex admitted. "Hey Sofia? Did I use that right?"

"You did, my sassy king," I said excitedly.

"Sofia! You're here too," Reggie greeted happily.

"Wonderful observation, Captain Obvious," I answered drily.

"Thanks," Reggie said sincerely. Oh this poor innocent cinnamon roll. I would protect him at all costs. With another display of impeccable timing, Julie burst into the studio, flinging the doors open wide. If she used any more force they would fly off their hinges. Power right there.

"We have 30 minutes to perfect that song before we perform it for Flynn," she announced. Well okay then. 'Cause that wasn't confusing at all. Apparently I was the only confused one as the boys instantly sprung into motion, Luke grabbing his song journal and opening it, flicking through the pages, Reggie grabbing his bass and plugging it into the amp, Alex moving to standing around the piano next to Luke. Julie sat on the piano stool and I decided to go and stand next to the piano with them, curious as to what the hell was going on.

"Okay so this is the melody for the chorus," Luke said before starting to sing.

My life, my life, would be real low, zero, flying solo
