'Ow.' I muttered, opening my eyes and rubbing them hard. 'What... Oh my god Ash!'

He pulled me in for a hug and I started crying. 'Calm down Posy. Are you alright? What's the matter?'

'I'm okay.' I blubbered. 'I though you had died in the bloodbath yesterday, and then last night, when your picture wasn't up in the sky, I was so glad that you hadn't. But then I figured that it would be impossible to find you in this impossibly large arena.'

'I was worried about you too.' He replied. 'So I awoke early to find you. Turns out we were really close by.' He laughed and I wipes the tears from my eyes, laughing too. 'Come on, we need to find somewhere to stay for now.

We continued through the tall trees and forest, until we found my stream again. I told Ash about finding it yesterday, and we refill our water bottles.

Once we were ready to continue, I stumbled over a thick root a few metres away and bashed my knee on something extremely hard. Grunting in pain, Ash joined me to see if I was okay, when to our surprise, we realized that the hard thing I had fallen on was stone, from a cave. We were at the mouth of a cave.

'Wow, great finding Posy.' Ash exclaimed.

'This is perfect. We can camp out here.' I agreed.

The stone walls were icy cold, but at least they provided shelter. Ash and I both emptied the contents of our stuff again. He had collected two rucksacks, a sleeping bag a spear and some knives for me. He must have been very speedy at the cornucopia to collect all of that without getting hurt.

Inside of his backpacks he had more food, a torch, ropes, night vision glasses, and a water bottle. Combined with my stuff, we were going to be okay.

'Lets lay out our sleeping bags and sort everything out.' He nodded, so we laid them out, before putting the food in one backpack and sharing out everything else into the other two.

'We need to save as much of the food as possible.' stated Ash.

'I could check if the stream gets larger. There might be some fish there.' I concluded.

Ash reluctantly agreed to let me go off on my own but I told him that I could handle myself. So, securing my belt of knives, I took off, following the stream closely.

It must have been late afternoon, when I set off, around 4, for the sky was still light, but slowly fading. I watched the orange sky darken as the stream indeed widened, as I had hoped. Crouching down in the mud by the water, I reached for the first knife.

...

I skinned the scales and cut into the flesh, as my stomach began to rumble, and I noticed how hungry I was. Grabbing the fish, I scurried back along the water edge and a while later, caught sight of the cave.

Ash waved to me and I ran up beside him.

'Hey, whilst you were gone, I built a fire and as it's getting dark and we don't want to be noticeable, I have started to burn it out. There is probably enough time to cook that if we hurry.' He pointed at the fish, I clutched in my hands.

Not much later, Ash and I were curled up in the cave with full stomachs of fish and berries we had gathered, smiling. Maybe we could survive this. Maybe one of us could win. But then who wouldn't?

I tried to clear my mind and not think about that, for it was too much for me to handle.

About half an hour ago, the anthem had played in the sky again, and three more tributes appeared. I think it was the girl from 10 and the boy from 4.

Sighing, Ash and I shuffled into our sleeping bags and curled up to stay warm.
