Not (technically) swimming

Heather Dukes POV

The hot morning air hits the bare skin on my arms when I wake up, and I curl them back into my sleeping bag. I probably should've put the rain cover over the tent before we went to bed, but the fresh air was definitely worth it.

I sit up and stretch my arms with a yawn, and notice that Veronica is already awake. She's laying facing away from me, but I can tell by the way she shifts, that she's definitely up.

"Good morning, babe," I say pressing a kiss to her cheek, "do you know what time it is?"

"Go ask heather, she's the one with the clock," she groans and turns to face me.

"I don't want to go wake up Heather just for the time."

"Well, then we'll just stay here, sleep in, and wait for her to get up," she suggests.

Something is always up when Veronica wants to sleep in. But I don't question it. More time to cuddle with her is always a good thing.

I wrap my arms around her under her sleeping bag and she shoots up in a panic. She fumbles around in her sleeping bag, and I notice she doesn't have a shirt on.

'Oh, wow' I think to myself.

She looks so hot in just her sports bra. I feel my whole face go red, and I catch myself staring for a second.

She must've taken it off sometime in the night. I don't see why, since it was pretty cold. She must've been really warm to take it off.

She pulls a new shirt out of her sleeping bag, and slips it on, snapping me back to reality.

"Sorry, I just-" she starts apologizing, "let's just get back to bed."

"No, no, it's fine," I say frantically.

She still looked really pretty with her hair messy in the morning. I wrap my arms back around her, and press my face against her back.

Unfortunately, we're cut short when I hear Heather unzip the tent, and climbs in, already in her swim suit, a black and yellow striped two piece, with a frilly top.

"Are you two still in bed?" She asks, "I though we were going swimming?"

"It's too early, Heather," Veronica groans,"go back to bed."

"The hell are you talking about?" She asks confused, "it's like, 11. Normally you two are always the early birds."

Shit. Normally Veronica is up by like 8 on weekends, and even earlier on school days. I myself get up early on school days, but on the weekends, I could sleep forever.

Veronica scrambles to get up, and check the clock in Macs RV. She reports back to me, that sure enough the clock read sometime around 11. I pull my swim suit out of the bag, a simple emerald green two piece. I get my swim suit on in the tent, but Veronica doesn't get hers on with me.

"What's wrong?" I ask her, "you can get changed in the RV if you-"

"No that's not it," she cuts me off, "You've seen me naked before, it's just..." she hesitates, "I'm not really up for swimming today."

I was really looking forward to swimming with her today. And I know she was looking forward to it too. We were all just going to relax in the water, and float around for hours together. And then dry off, and get ice cream, and sit on the swings at the park, and leave all our worries behind us.

"Oh... can you at least still come with? We can just dip our feet in the water if you want."
