"Team (y/n) wins with another K.O!" Marina announces.

"They've been on a winning streak since last week," Pearl shrugged, "Talk about dedication."

You smiled proudly as the crowd praised you and your team for the inkcredible win. You were about to walk out when you saw how depressed the other team was. One of them looked like they were about to cry too. You rushed over to the sniffling girl and gave her a big hug. She was surprised and so was the rest of her teammates, but she accepted the hug from you.

"Don't worry, you guys did great," You praised, "You'll win your next match for sure, I know you will!"

"T-Thank you," The girl sniffled, "We'll win for sure next time!"

You bid the team a farewell and joined up with your friends. Shiro was happy that you comforted the other team after their loss. She described it as good sportsmanship. Carli went on to poke you about your soft-heartedness as the four of you left Manta Maria. You were unaware that a certain squid was observing you from the stands. He watched your every move, how you battled, how you interacted with your team, but mostly your actions after the battle.

"Small fry catch your eye?" Egg asked, a sly smirk on his face. (Egg is short for Double-Egg)

"No," Vintage replied robotically.

"You gotta admit, the girl's pretty cute."

Vintage shrugged. He wasn't thinking of you like that at all. Moreover, he was thinking about your actions after the game. You hugged one of the members of the opposite team and comforted them. You told them that they'll win their next match.

"Pointless," He said, "Anyone below the X ranks is weak. Plain and simple."

Outside the Deca Tower, you and your teammates were taking a break from ranked battles. You have been on this win streak for a whole week and it's time for some well-deserved fun. You all planned to go to Wahoo World to let loose and have a grand old time. Just like when you were kids. While Carli and Shiro were arguing over which weapon was the best (Carli's a roller main and Shiro's a charger main), a certain inkling boy caught your eye. You turned your complete attention over to the cyan boy.

"That boy..." You mumbled.

Carli and Shiro turned their gazes to match where you were staring. Carli scoffed and instantly turned away the moment she saw the boy.

"Vintage, that cad," Carli rolled her eyes, "He thinks he's sooo tough, wait 'til the idiot team beats him."

"I think he's scary..." Coco shivered.

"Vintage is quite rude," Shiro agreed with Carli, "I'd say he's let the power gone to his head."

The four of you didn't notice but one of Vintage's teammates overheard your little banter and rushed over. A cyan inkling with pigtails and a crazy look in her eyes. She looked like another mary sue of Harley Quinn.

"Hey hey, ladies!" She slammed her hands on the table, "What's that about our leader?"

"Eek!" Coco scooted far away from the crazed maniac.

"Oh? Are you scared? You're such a coward!"

She laughed in Coco's face which made her start crying. Carli stood up and shoved the pigtailed girl away from her.

"Back off ya maniac or else I'll crush ya!" Carli threatened.

"That a threat?" Her eyes narrowed.

"You bet your crappy shoes it was."

This is getting out of control, I need to calm things down, you stood up and got in between the two. Shiro got Carli and pulled her back down to her seat. Everyone was staring at you all because of the yelling and it embarrassed you to no end. No one needed to see your team like this.

"Look, I don't know why you came into our business," You glared at the girl, "But I'm gonna ask you to leave us alone."

"Yo, (y/n)," A familiar voice caught your attention.

You turned around to see Double-Egg, who used to be a great friend of yours, walk up to you and your group. Alongside, he was followed by Omega and Vintage, the man who caused all of this. That arrogant look in his eyes made you want to vomit, you just can't stand how he treats people the way he does.

"Hey, Egg," You greeted, "Can you take your pet back please?"

"Calling people names now?" Egg laughed, "I see you haven't lost your spark since we were kids."

You have a better relationship with Egg than his other members because you've known him since childhood. That, and he's more tolerable than his teammates. One being another copy of Vintage and the other being a wild animal.

"(y/n), right?" Vintage spoke up, "Let's have a 1v1, just you and me."

Everyone looked at him, completely flabbergasted. Even Omega and Double-Egg. But you were the most surprised that he asked you. Of all inklings and octolings, why did you pick me? You whined in your mental. Egg grinned and postured up beside you, elbowing you a couple of times.

"Go on, (y/n), make a move~"

"Shut up, you degenerate!" (You remember Tenko from Danganronpa V3? I do, she's such a cute degenerate female, isn't she?)

You turn to Vintage with a smug smirk on your face. You weren't going to bow down like everyone else to this bully.

"Sure, I'm game. As long as I get to beat your face into the ground," You smirked.

"Is that so? Oh well," Vintage shrugs.

Shiro stands up and goes right beside you.

"Are you sure this is okay?" Shiro asked, concerned, "What if you get hurt? I've heard rumors that some squids get seriously injured after battling with them."

"Don't worry, it'll be fine."

✩ Later - MUCH LATER ✩

"I change my mind, it's not fine!" You shouted.

Vintage placed the rainmaker down on the pedestal and Judd announced him the winner of their fifth match. He completely broke your winning streak in just a matter of seconds, it was insane! Vintage's expression never changed the whole time, he just continued to have that stupid blank face on him. It annoyed you so much you threw your weapon down and screamed into the wind.

"You've gotta be kidding me!" You shouted, "How the hell are you so god damn fast? No one with a splatling is that speedy!" (I'm sorry when I play with a splatling speed is the last thing on my list. It's just how I play, I'm sorry!)

Vintage only shrugged at your outburst but there was a hint of amusement in his eyes. You bared your fangs and attempted to strangle the white boy but Shiro and Carli were quicker. They held you back as you struggled against their grips on your arms, yelling at Vintage and accusing him of cheating. You know, the standard stuff you yell when losing pretty badly.

"If you weren't a good-looking guy, I'd beat your butt by now!" You threatened.

"You find me attractive?" Vintage had a light cyan blush dust his cheeks.

He stayed silent for a minute more before speaking again.

"I guess you're cute too."

You blushed at least ten million shades of (f/c) when he said that. Did he just call me cute?! Your mind flipped as did your heart. You were so confused about him, one minute he's cold and arrogant the next he's being mildly cute? Your teammates were just as confused as you were. Double-Egg came up beside you, taking Shiro's place, and elbowed you yet again.

"So uh, when's the wedding?" Egg joked.

A tick mark appeared on your temple and you pursued your assault on him again.

"Get back here, you baby-faced spiky hedge!"
