Namjoon and Hyejin are currently sitting at the campus cafe nearby. Namjoon finds out that she, like him, have no other classes today. She just figured she should get acquainted with where her classes are, but those plans are down the drain because now she finds herself sat opposite of the guy she was trying her best to avoid.

He fiddles with his hands nervously. He knows he probably should kick off the conversation but he just doesn't know how. Where does he even start?

I'm sorry I watched you fuck my roommate and almost kissed you— pfft, yeah right that will go well...

To his relief, she breaks the silence.

"Can we just forget what happened the past couple of days?" The words feel like venom in her throat. She didn't want to forget what happened. She knew how irresponsible and destructive it will be to ignore whatever tensions that have been festering since the first night they met, but right now she can't afford getting caught up and distracted with this.

She doesn't like Namjoon.

No way. Well at least, that's what she keeps saying in her head.

She can't like him. Hyejin respected "girl code" even if her roommate was a pain in her side. She didn't want to give energy to any type of conversation that may lead to feelings with the taller.

She needs to keep this friendship strictly platonic.

Namjoon winced a bit at her question. He knew that it's probably for the best. It's best to just keep this buried, whatever this is. He has a girlfriend for crying out loud. He wonders why it's been so hard for him to remember this fact lately.

Moving on and ignoring their odd past encounters would probably be best. Right?

"I completely agree. I'm sorry if I ever made you feel uncomfortable." He says and he means it. He's a big part of the blame in these questionable interactions they've been having. If he had just kept his eyes shut last night, things would have been relatively normal in class today.

"I'm sorry too." She offers him a small smile to which he returns gratefully.

"Friends?" He extends his hand out for her.

"Friends." She nods as she takes his hand in hers giving it a firm shake.

They both laugh nervously as they separate. Namjoon clears his throat.

"So... I'm sure today's class isn't the only one we'll have together. Did you want to compare schedules?" He asks.

And it's true. The music department at school is really small. They are bound to have the same classes together. Might as well take advantage of having a friend in class to study and compare notes with.

"Oh yeah good idea!" Hyejin says delightedly as she pulls up her schedule from her folder.

She would definitely benefit having someone to help her study. Even though it'll be easier for her to be on top of her studies considering she's studying music, Hyejin's motivation came in waves. She needed someone to hold her accountable sometimes.

They compare and they find that they have almost identical schedules. Hyejin, of course has extra vocal classes, while Namjoon has extra production classes. But for the most part, they will be seeing each other a lot this school year.

He's happy that they've created this unspoken boundary between them. Now, things won't be so awkward and the year will go on without a hitch. At least he hoped so.

...

It's been almost 2 months since the first day of instruction. Since Hyejin and himself "cleared" the air or effectively pushed whatever was happening between them under the rug.
