Weeks pass by in a blur and everyone is anticipating Thanksgiving break.

Well, everyone except Namjoon.

His parents have decided to spend Thanksgiving in Cabo so he is left to his own devices this holiday. At first he was disappointed and very confused. I mean, who spends Thanksgiving on a tropical island?

But he quickly grew to be thankful about it actually.

He could visit his older sister Kei back home instead, but the more he thought about it, he would rather stay away from his hometown a little while longer.

(Flashback)

*Facetiming Kei*

Kei: I mean seriously, they are insane. Appa must be going through a midlife crisis. Thanksgiving should be spent at home with family not in fucking Cabo!

She finishes her last sentence with a grunt and a very exaggerated eye roll. Namjoon can only chuckle at his sisters apparent annoyance.

They've always been super close. His parents worked a lot in order to provide for their family, so Kei often cared for him at home.

Kei is uber protective of Namjoon in that regard. Even though she herself has her own family, she still treats him as one of her kids. He loves his sister, but sometimes she can be a bit overbearing.

In a way, he understands his parent's uncharacteristic need to travel for the holiday. With both of them now retired and free of  debt, they finally had the time and the resources to do the things they want to do in life. Namjoon really can't be mad at that.

He explains this to his sister.

Kei: Pfft, whatever. Anyway you are free to come home and spend the holiday with me, Yoongi, and the kids. You are welcome to bring Yongsun too... I guess.

(End flashback)

Truthfully, he wasn't ready for the flood of questions his sister was surely going to berate him with so he abruptly ended the call. Not before letting her know that he'll think about coming home.

Granted, Kei was never the biggest fan of Yongsun. His big sister found the blonde obnoxious and downright annoying, and she did not shy away letting Namjoon, and even Yongsun herself, know that.

Kei, being the ever wise and intuitive older sister, knew that they wouldn't last and was pretty vocal about that too, much to Namjoon's dismay.

Deep down, maybe Namjoon just didn't want Kei the satisfaction of being right so he decides to withhold this information for as long as possible and until he absolutely has to.

Or at least until he talked to Yongsun.

It was like she just disappeared, leaving him dumbfounded for more than a month.

But finally after what seemed like an eternity, Namjoon was able to catch Yongsun out in the school courtyard a couple of days ago.

She looked well and that itself made him a bit relieved.

They agree to meet for a drink at a nearby cafe.

(Flashback)

Namjoon sits across from Yongsun at a table by the window. He fidgets awkwardly in his seat as he looks everywhere but her.

"Come on Joon. Let's not pretend we haven't known each other for years. You can look at me." Yongsun nudges his leg from beneath the table.

He gives her a lopsided grin, embarrassed.

Break ups suck, Namjoon thought. He can't help but think how the person across from him was once his whole world, but now feels like a complete stranger to him. Despite their relationship challenges, there were good times shared between them. They have years of history behind them.
