I called the number after the shock wore off. The voice was professional but also slightly cracked with what seemed like grief.  The voice identified himself as Deacon and he then shifted to retelling me what had already been explained in the level.  I let him talk as to not be rude and after a few minutes of rambling he got to the question that I wanted to hear " What would you like to do with the assets?" I froze for a second. I obviously wanted the money but a whole mansion and buisness was an entirely different manner. As I stuttered for an answer Deacon told me something that I didn't consider at that sudden moment. " If you want, you can come down to maine and you can look at the assets yourself." I snapped out of my state of shock and answered with a sharp quickness " yes, I'll come this  week "

He replied with agreement and I hung up.  I opened my email app and told my fine job that I had a death in the family and needed the time to grieve. I attached a picture of the letter for proof and quickly got confirmation back. I bought my ticket to the town set for later today and quickly packed incase I needed to stay there for the night. I took another shower and dressed in a baby blue blouse and black Jean's with black heels and a taxi was called and I soon made it to the station.  This wasn't the dirty subway that the citizens would use and abuse, this was the Amtrak station for tourists. Walking through the automatic doors I was hit with the smell of cleaning supplies and subway.  I  made it just in time for my train and stepped on with the excitement of a child going onto their first vacation.  Finding a seat I put up my sat down. Looking around i saw the train car was oddly empty. I  plugged in my phone and handed the train employee my Ticketmaster.  Soon the train began to move and I began to look out the window to take in the scenery.

I remeber taking trains often during my college years. I didn't drive during that time and I still don't so my trips home for the holidays consisted of 45 dollar early morning train rides from and back to college. I didn't hate home but I didn't hate college. I had a good social life at home but I had a great academic success rate at college.  I majored in psychology and finished the program with multiple awards, and I barely paid a cent thanks to scholarships. I want to go to graduate school but money is tight. This new inheritance could help me further that goal though. I looked out the window to the all too familiar scenery of farms, fields, and a small towns.  I had never been this far east so I was hoping to see something different,  maybe the ocean.

I began to drift off after 3 hours when my phone vibrated in my lap. I sighed thinking it was my job and answered with my eyes still closed. " speak" I said plainly. I was met with the confused voice of my friend and former college roomate lavinia." I hate to be nosey and all but I checked snap maps and why are you halfway across ohio?" I laughed and explained the situation.  She replied shocked" so you're telling me you're rich and inheriting a manor, and you didn't call me to tag along?" I replied " Girl don't you have work? What happened to chasing that bag non stop?" She replied with a pause and suddenly retorted " I can take a day off to support my friend and her probably large mansion" she laughs.  I talked for a few hours . " I'll talk to you when I'm in town" I said hanging up.

I then closed my eyes and  opened them back up. I checked my phone and saw that 6 hours had passed. I was nearly out of Vermont now, I was close to the destination.  For some reason a quiet dread hoed my heart and mind hostage. " what if this was a scam?" My mind went" I could be kidnapped" another thought pierced my head. The announcement came that the maine station was 20 minutes away. I checked my email and saw that deacon had emailed me instructions to get to the town.  As I read them the train stopped at my destination.  I got off the train and fog clouded my vision. After adjusting my vision and wiping my glasses off saw a tall gaunt man in a white sweater and blue jeans holding a sign with my name in it. He was rather handsome but his energy was off. I approached him and he introduced himself as sean. His voice was soft and gentle. He gave his condolences led me to his rather clean van. I got in the back with my suitcase and we drove off into the fog. " I hope I did the right thing" I said.
