Mimic had been following Midoriya in stealth mode for a while now. Having a robot follow you... Was kind of creepy. Melissa was there to supervise in case something went wrong.
The heroes had their day off today. Every month, Japan had decreed on the last day of the month heroes would get a break from hero work and the government armed forced would protect the country for a day. It really helped relieve some stress and was a way to get a good night's sleep.
Midoriya exhaled voilently. "Uraraka-San... Iida-Kun? D-do you guys want to... Uh- Go get some lunch...?"
Melissa laughed. "Relax Deku-kun! Mimic isn't gonna blow up or take over the world. I'll make sure of that."
The green-haired hero visibly relaxed and the four- five including Mimic- went to get Katsudon.
Todoroki, Bakugou, Kirishima, Kaminari and Shinsou were still at the office. The other girld had gone shopping and to catch a movie. They decided to stay behind just incase there was something to happen.
Todoroki leant of the windowsill, blankly staring off into space while Kaminari walked around like an idiot, being controlled by Shinsou. Kirishima sat next to Bakugou behind the desk and the two were watching something.
"Hey! Todoroki! You ok?"
Todoroki looked up at Kaminari who was no longer being controlled. "Yeah..." He scratched the back of his neck. "Just... Thinking?"
"Oh come on Todoroki! You don't think like that and you sound so unsure of yourself!" Kirishima paused the video and Bakugou pulled Kirishima back down onto his chair.
"Ejiro, that's not your business to pry to be honest..."
"No, no! It's fine! Just worried about..." He looked out the window onto the street below.
Shinsou raised his eyebrow and shrugged. He whispered something to Kaminari, who walked over to Kirishima to whisper something, who tapped Bakugou and said it to him too.
Todoroki knew they were whispering, but didn't care at that moment.
"You're thinking about Midoriya, aren't you?"
He spun, jacket flying up. "What?"
Bakugou repeated. "You're thinking about Midoriya, aren't you."
"I..." Todoroki shook his head.
"Dude! You like Midoriya!" Shinsou jumped infront of Todoroki excitedly.
A blush crept onto his face. "What..? I- I mean...? What are you trying to say.."
"HE DOESN'T DENY IT! TODOROKI HAS A CRUSH! TODOROKI HAS A CRUSH!"
"KAMINARI! Stop acting like a five year-old PLEASE!"
"Sorry Bakugou.." Kaminari shuffled behind Shinsou.
Todoroki sighed and went back to leaning against the windowsill, looking out at the city streets below.
Midoriya sat in the cafe, staring off into space.
"Midoriya. Deku-Kun? Midoriya! MIDORIYA IZUKU!" Uraraka screeched, her voice rising higher in pitch with every word.
Midoriya snapped back to reality. "Oh! Sorry guys! I'm just a little worried that BWO is going to attack today. And if they attack Dynamight Agency, the people injured..."
Uraraka tilted her head and looked at Iida. Melissa nudged Uraraka and they exchanged glances.
"So... You're worried about our friends?" Iida slowly reeled off every word.
Midoriya nodded slowly. "I mean... I think Bakugou and Kirishima would be fine, Kaminari's pretty strong and he's got Shinsou...." His voice stopped and he paused.
"Deku-Kun? What about Todoroki-Kun? Surely you must be worried about him too? If you're worried about the others, that is..."
Midoriya stood up and called a waiter over before paying for the food. "I'm gonna go guys, I'll visit my mum today. See you all tomorrow."
With that, he left, walking through the busy streets of Kamino and off into the crowd, leaving the other three confused and crestfallen. Mimic had been turned off as Melissa didn't want Mimic copying this part of Midoriya, she needed the parts where his quirk was activated and his fighting style and attitude to beating villains and saving people. The black box sat heavily in her pocket, sharp corners digging into her legs.
Midoriya didn't go home. Instead, he went to the hideout he had made when he was little. As a kid, he could've fitted in with another friend but now only he could fit in, with a little bit of room to spare.
The trapdoor closed above him and he pulled the light switch, hoping the light would come on after all these years of inactivity. A dim yellow glow flashed momentarily before the bulb broke, falling off the ceiling. Midoriya caught it and sighed before lighting a candle, a pathetic little stub of wax with a burnt wick.
He started to think. Why hadn't he thought about Todoroki? Why did he say the others would be fine but not for his best friend? The green-haired boy wracked his brain for an answer but came to nothing. He didn't have an explanation to give to his friends. It probably made him seem mean and they'd probably hate him for it.
God... Why am I such a mess?
He buried his head into his knees as chaotic thoughts travelled around his head until he fell asleep, the candle burning itself out.
He woke up in the middle of the night panicking. He was still in his hideout and not kidnapped by some random people. That was good.
Cautiously pushing open the trapdoor, he registered the black sky and the glowing moon directly above him. The stars were out, little specks of floating sparkly dust in the night sky. It was all rather peaceful.
"YOU HAVE ANOTHER MESSAGE FROM PRO HERO URAVITY, 36 MESSAGES FROM URAVITY, 20 MISSED CALLS. INGENIUM- 34 MESSAGES AND 12 MISSED CALLED. PRO HERO SHOUTO- 37 MESSAGES 36 MISSED CALLS. DYNAMIGHT AGENCY- 50 MESSAGES, 86 MISSED CALLS. MORE MISSED CALLS AND MESSAGES IN YOUR LOG."
Midoriya jumped and sighed in relief when he realised it was just his phone. He took it out of his pocket and looked at it. His friends were rapidly calling him and spamming him with messages.
"Huh?" Incoming call, Pro Hero Uravity. Just as he was about to his answer, his phone died and the screen went black. "Dammit."
He pulled himself out of the trapdoor and headed back towards Dynamight Agency. He had a cramp in his back from being curled up in such a tight space and his head ached from dehydration. He hadn't had water for a while and the walk was draining him even more.
Soon the familiar building of the agency came into view and he entered, not bothering to go to the meeting room where everyone was, instead heading up to his room.
He unlocked the door and took a brief shower, the water warm was a relief to feel. After the shower came a little food and several large glasses of water. After he had filled himself to the brim with water, he slumped down on the bed and fell asleep.
He woke to a hammering on his door. "MIDORIYA IZUKU! YOU BETTER GET YOUR LAZY BUTT UP AND EXPLAIN TO US WHERE YOU WERE LAST NIGHT! YOU HAD US WORRIED TO DEATH!" Uraraka screeched in a fit of anger while Asui patted her back, calming her down so the girl wouldn't bust the door down and murder Midoriya.
The boy groaned. "Ugh.. Get everyone to the kitchen, I'll explain there, don't expect me to explain everything to you guys tho, there are some parts I don't want to share."
