Spring Break had only last a week and a half and in that time Alissa and Paul's relationship had progressed so smoothly and fast that the girl met his parents within just a few hours after they made it official at the beach. Alissa was nervous, but his family was probably one of the nicest people she had met. They welcomed her into their house and as Paul's sister, Becca said, adopted her as her sister. While she didn't become close with his parents immediately, they progressively started getting to know each other.
His mom was very strict just as Paul had told her and his dad was actually quite laid back. His sister, Becca was seven years older than him so she was well into her twenties. She was also engaged, but Alissa hadn't met her fiancé yet. Then there was his youngest sister, the girl was far too eager to meet Alissa when she first came to their house.
She had run out of the house to Paul, and he lifted her up, spinning her around. When Alissa saw the mark across her face and neck, she immediately thought of Emily. The mark was quite similar which had made Alissa think that she had been attacked.
It was only later that day that Paul had told her that he had been the reason for the claw marks on the girl's face and neck. He had argued with his parents and he lashed out triggering his wolf side which made him lose control. His sister unfortunately had stood far too close to him when it happened. He beat himself up over it everyday even though the young girl adored her brother, not once blaming him.
Paul had that fear that he'd one day lash out on her and end up hurting her as well. He couldn't hurt two of the most important people in his life.
Alissa had told him that it wouldn't be his fault because he wouldn't have been. She knew of that fear, that one day he'd hurt the person he loved when he never meant to.
While their relationship had only just started, the two of them had connected on a much deeper level. They understood each other. It suddenly made her realise that she wouldn't be able to be without Paul. She loved him.
A beeper beeped, and the girl was snapped out of her thoughts, springing to take the pan out of the oven, but she realised too late that her bare hand touched the hot pan. The girl winced, cursing as she jumped around trying to ease the pain she just experienced. Alissa bit her lip to not alert the woman who was busy outside. Alissa was a great cook but a horrible baker so she had asked Emily to teach her some recipes. She was making brownies for the first time and so not only burned them but also her hand.
The huntress looked down at her now red hand, and she ran to the sink. She pushed her hand under the water to try to ease the pain, but water wasn't helping at all.
Alissa groaned under her breath, “You're an idiot, Alissa. A nut brain idiot.”
The Argent girl turned the sink off before she went to dry it. She knew she needed to avoid placing ice on it, but she was tempted to do so.
