"Do you know where Bella is?"
Alissa looked up to the man across to the man who was sitting opposite her the couch. She just shook her head and went back to peeling the potatoes while glancing back up at the television. She had finished her assignment, now she was busy making dinner. It was Bella's turn to make dinner but since Alissa couldn't wait for her, she decided to start the dinner tonight. The Swan girl still wasn't back yet, and it didn't take a genius to know where the girl was or who she was with.
"She's with Edward Cullen again, right?" Charlie asked and Alissa just shrugged. As much as she would loved to give her opinion on Bella's relationship, she couldn't. The girl was in love and when a person was in love they never listen to anyone, even if that anyone has their best interest at heart.
"I don't really like him. He leaves town, Bella falls into depression and suddenly out of the blue her returns, and they are back together. He ruined her," Charlie said, and Alissa sighed since she was already tired of talking about Edward. Obviously there was a reason as to why he left and Bella understood that but leaving her like that was a dick move from Edward's part. There was no prior warning to prepare her for him leaving.
Now look he was back and nothing changed.
Charlie glanced over to Alissa, and he asked, "Aren't you going to say anything?"
"What do you want me to say, uncle Charlie? I'm done giving my opinions on that subject," Alissa told Charlie. Alissa and Bella were on speaking terms, but they weren't as close as they used to be. Now, they were like acquaintances who lived in one house.
"I would have preferred my son-in-law to be Jacob or at least someone like him."
"Don't drag my best friend into this, Uncle Charlie. He doesn't even wanna come near this house anymore. We don't even hang out as much as we used to," Alissa told the man. While she still saw him when she went to the reservation, Jake never comes to her house anymore and most of the time she was at home.
Charlie suddenly chuckled, "That may be because you're always around your boyfriend, Paul."
Alissa rolled her eyes and she stood up with the peeled potatoes. "Yes. Don't deny it."
"I wasn't going to."
"Now, he's a nice young man," Charlie said. At least her uncle approved of him, she was so sure that her dad would approve, though.
Alissa started preparing dinner while making sure to check up on Lydia. The girl had informed her that she was getting ready for the last few weeks of Junior year. While Alissa would be graduating, the others would be in their senior year. She should definitely visit them after graduation when she could.
