One week later
Everyone returns to school and to say the atmosphere sunk to a level to where everyone is on edge after the events from the week before. Students were either grieving or just completely terrified after losing another student mysteriously. Gon, however, was continuing his day like any other one.
He dropped some stuff off at his locker, then walking to his homeroom. He was happy, everyone has been so into all the events in the previous months that he hasn't heard of anyone that was trying to make of move or even liking Killua. He smiles when he thinks of all his talks and moments he's had with the albino; how it started with him getting injured on the track field to now they have normal conversations almost regularly about anything.
Gon was lost in thought and didn't even see the figure in front of him, bumping into the tall figure momentarily, "S-sorry, I didn't-" He stuttered until he looked up, eyebrows furrowing.
"Gon Freecss ," The detective Gon recognized by now to be Wing spoke. "May we have a word with you?"
Gon saw the other students that were passing by slow down to watch what was happening. Annoyed, he nodded to the detective, not wanting to gain more attention since he knew what this would be about.
The dark haired man gestured to the empty conference room where, once again, Biscuit sat. While Gon held back the urge to sigh loudly and roll his eyes, he knew he needed to maintain a certain composure for what's to come.
"Have a seat, Freecss." Biscuit gestured to the seat in front of her. Gon smiled small, awkward, as he took his seat, Wing walking around to Biscuit's side.
"We're going to get right to it; we've interviewed you quite a number of times, haven't we?"
"Yeah," Gon laughed nervously. "It has me a bit concerned, to be honest."
"So, I'm sure you've been a bit shaken up about what's happened with Aoi."
Gon looked down, seemingly sad, "Yeah, she...she was a sweet girl," He looked back up, meeting the pair's eyes. "It was a real tragedy with what happened to her."
The two detectives looked to be carefully observing the other, "It is," Biscuit spoke up. "So were you close to her?"
"Not really," Gon shrugged. "She was a year younger than me, in a different class, so I didn't know her very well."
"Well, we do have someone that says they saw you the day she apparently committed suicide," Wing responded, curious. "A few students say they saw you go to the rooftop at the same time she decided to end her life."
Gon held his demeanor, he expected something like this and knew exactly what to say, "Yeah, I-I..." He choked for a moment. "I saw her when she...jumped a-and it was my fault..."
Biscuit raised her eyebrows, looking over at her partner before continuing the questioning, "Really? You witnessed everything? How is it your fault?"
"Y-yeah, I did," Gon smiled sadly, eyes becoming glassy. "She, um, she had a crush on me and...I rejected her a while back," The boy continued. "When I saw her on the rooftop, s-she had her shoes off and a note under them, she was looking over the railing. I tried talking to her, tried to stop her, but...she just talked about h-how her life was spiraling out of control, out of her grasp...and she..."
Gon looked down, upset, before hearing Wing speak up, "I see...so you saw the whole thing?"
"Y-yes, I just...I don't like talking about it. You guys are detectives, I'm sure you knew what happened to my parents, so that kind of stuff just...you know..."
Biscuit looked at Wing once more before looking back at the young teen, "Alright, you can go. We apologize for assuming the worst from you. It's not your fault, okay?"
Gon smiled weakly, eyes glassy, rising from his chair, "No, you were just doing your job, I'd be suspectful too, it's alright. Thank you." He bowed before walking out the door, the detectives groaning to themselves, wondering if they should finally rule the case as a suicide rather than a homicide.
The second Gon shut the door, he wiped away the fake tears as he walked down empty hallway to his homeroom. He had thought of many different scenarios on the effect of Aoi's 'suicide' and that was one of them. Smirking to himself, thinking of how perfectly executed it was.
The day went on as per usual, everyone was still wondering about Aoi and what happened. Gon had different thoughts as he watched the elder boy walk out the school, beginning his route to home. While Gon decided to follow.
He kept a respectful distance, making sure he wasn't noticeable to the boy, making sure he had somewhere to hide just in case the other would turn around. As he walked, Gon got lost in thought, wishing how he could have the nerve to just confess to Killua, but, even with all his previous actions, he was still a shy boy when it came to the other.
All he ever wanted to do was make the other his, to have him forever and even after, ever since he discovered what his mother and father had. He's fallen for Killua, killed for Killua, and would die for Killua; he'd do anything for him as long as he gets to have, hold, and love him. Gon was just a boy in love.
He suddenly stopped, feeling his phone vibrate randomly. He usually didn't get messages, reaching in his pocket to pull out his phone, clicking the home button to open his messages. His eyes widened...
His hand gripped his phone tightly, like it would get taken away. His eyes concentrated on the blue received message bubble, focusing on the words themselves, it felt like his world stopped, he's positive that his heart skipped a beat, he didn't know what to do.
