"Why can't you do anything right?! This is the fourth time this week that you've messed up, Hoseok." The boss angrily spits at the man. Hoseok flinches at his words and lowers his head, his hands behind his back nervously fiddling with them.
"B-But sir. It wasn't me. I didn't hand in that report to the secretary." Hoseok says, his eyes refusing to meet the older man's. A loud smack echoes in the room and he jumps at the sound, looking up in fright.
"Now you're going to lie to me?" The man sighs, drops the stack of papers and places his hand on his head. "Listen, I get that you succeeded the first time but went in the wrong direction right after. You aren't the best and make errors all the time but this draws the line. One more mistake from you and you're fired. Leave," he says and waves his hand. Hoseok sighs and bows, turning around and walking out of the office.
When he closes the door, he notices the many eyes on him but he doesn't question it. It was normal for him at this point. Everyone in the company. . . had a strong dislike towards him. His first few days were great and when a big project came in, he was the one that managed to snag the customer. After that, he received a lot of praise and was expected to do the best out of everyone.
However, he didn't necessarily do well in the following projects and his whole career went downhill. Many saw him as him cheating or getting outside help. Hoseok didn't have the heart to correct them.
"Look, there he goes again. I wonder what he did wrong this time."
"Why are you surprised? It should be normal at this point."
"They should just fire him. No point in keeping him here. The moment he's gone, we'll all be lifted off the stress we have to deal because of him. Do you understand how much overtime i've had to do because of him?"
Hoseok's ears pick up all the murmurs coming from all directions but he doesn't say a thing. He takes a deep breath and keeps his head lowered, walking out as fast as he can and to the elevators.
He presses the button and waits for it to open. When it does, a few people appear in the elevator, their laughter halting at the sight of the man. Hoseok looks up and cracks a smile but they all look at him with disgust. He doesn't let it faze him and he waits for them to step out before he steps in and presses the ground floor.
He was going home.
The moment it reaches the underground parking lot, Hoseok rushes to his car and drives home. When he arrives, his tired eyes scan the area. As always, everything looked so gloomy to him. In his eyes nothing seemed bright. Everything was dull and negative and he knew it was the effect of being surrounded by negative people.
"I'm not even hungry," he mumbles and plops down onto the couch. He reaches for the remote and turns on the television, leaving it on the first channel that appears. He tries his best to focus on the show but he can't.
"Why does everyone hate me? Why can't I do anything. . . right? I just want people to like me." He whispers, his jaw clenches, tears pools at the edge of his eyes, hand slightly shakes and drops the remote.
