"How much longer?" You pant, pulling the large luggage in your hands up the spiral of stairs. The moment you were ready to move into your new home, was also the time in which the elevator had to break down.
Thus, you ended up soaked in sweat by the time you arrived to the eighth floor, standing before your door half bent over trying to regain your regular breathing pattern. After what seemed like fifteen minutes, you finally take out you key and enter the room. With a click, the door shuts behind you.
This was prepared for me? You look around and realize that there was already furniture all around. Couches, dining table, television, everything. It was odd. From what you could remember (barely), the landlord said everything was already taken out. As you walk further into the living room, a sudden sound of water running startled you. "A-Anyone there?" Right after you say those words, the water abruptly shuts off, silence engulfing the room once more.
Footsteps could be heard, frantic. A door swings open startling you. "Who are you?" A voice comes from your left. Turning, you're greeted by a man, not just any man, a half naked man. You scream, dropping your luggage and try your best to cover your eyes.
"Who are you and why are you naked?!" You felt blood rush to your cheeks. "Wait here." He says and the door shuts again.
"You can lower your hands now," He mumbles, his footsteps slowly increasing in sound near you. You lower them and is greeted by the stranger once again, fully clothed this time. He narrows his eyes at you, an eyebrow cocked. "Who are you and why are you in my apartment?"
"You're apartment? I paid for this place!" You're tone immediately changes, a hint of anger laced in it. He frowns, gesturing for you to sit down and in some way, try to talk it out. You hesitantly follow behind him, sitting a great distance away from him. He sighs, handing you a cup of water. "I've been living here for a month. I don't recall ever handing my key to the landlord, so how is it possible that this apartment is yours?"
You run to your luggage and take out the contract along with the key. "Here's my proof." The man sighs and throws his body back onto the couch. "Great. She did it again."
"What do you mean?"
"That landlord-she always tries to rent my place to someone else ever since I got here." You look at him dumbfounded. "You've only been here for a month-"
"And within that month, the lady has grown to hate me." The man seems to read through your thoughts on how, because the next second he answered you with his reason. "On my second day here, I was leaning out the window and on accident, knocked down one of my plants and well it kinda smashed on her head as she was talking with a client..." he looks away. You purse your lips trying to keep your stifled laugh from coming out, but the next second you burst into a fight of laughter.
"Y-You're really something," you chuckle and wipe away the few tears that came out. He turns to look at you with a solemn look on his face, "since you were the target in her scheme, if you wish, I will let you stay here-"
"Really-"
"With me." Your eyes widen in horror at his words. "But your a man!" He cocks an eyebrow, leaning towards you, "and?" You push him back by the chest and stand to your feet, "I can't be staying with a man!"
He pretends to think for a while, rubbing a hand under his chin, "I don't see the problem." At that moment, you didn't know whether to laugh or to cry.
Is this man dumb or what?
"Sir-"
"Hoseok."
